Job summary

Systems Limited is seeking a highly experienced Linux Engineer to design, automate, and optimize enterprise Linux platforms across on‑premises and cloud environments. This hands-on role focuses on building reusable solutions for Linux Operations and Infrastructure teams, rather than routine admin tasks.

You will define standards, build golden images, manage provisioning tooling, and lead incident analysis in a 24x7 on-call rotation, working with DevOps, Security, and EA teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
• 12+ years of experience in Enterprise Linux environments.
• Senior Linux Administration and Linux Engineering background.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise-wide Linux platform standards and automated build solutions.
• Develop standardized OS and container golden images for bare-metal, VMware, OpenShift, and cloud environments.
• Manage Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, PXE, DHCP, and Redfish for automated provisioning.
• Engineer and optimize RHEL platforms, including kernel, CPU, memory, I/O, and network performance.
• Define and implement Linux security, hardening, configuration and compliance standards.
• Develop monitoring and observability solutions for Linux OS and server infrastructure (Splunk/ELK/SiEM/AppDynamics).
• Automate patching, firmware updates, configuration management, monitoring, and compliance with Ansible, Bash, Python.
• Develop AI-driven solutions to improve Linux engineering and BAU operations.
• Support Linux platforms across OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
• Act as Level 3 escalation point for critical incidents and lead root cause analysis.

This is a hands-on engineering role, focused on building reusable solutions and capabilities for Linux Operations and Infrastructure teams rather than performing day-to-day system administration.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain enterprise-wide Linux platform standards and automated build solutions.
• Develop standardized OS and container golden images for bare-metal, VMware, OpenShift, and cloud environments.
• Manage and enhance Red Hat Satellite, Kickstart, PXE, DHCP, and Redfish for automated provisioning.
• Engineer and optimize RHEL platforms, including kernel, CPU, memory, I/O, and network/TCP performance.
• Define and implement Linux security, hardening, configuration, and compliance standards.
• Develop monitoring and observability solutions for Linux OS and Dell/HPE server infrastructure, integrating with Splunk, ELK, SIEM, and AppDynamics.
• Automate patching, firmware updates, configuration management, monitoring, and compliance using Ansible, Bash, and Python.
• Develop AI-driven solutions to improve Linux engineering and BAU operations.
• Support Linux platforms across OpenShift, VMware, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
• Act as a Level 3 escalation point for critical incidents and lead root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure, DevOps, Security, Enterprise Architecture, and BAU teams to establish future-state Linux standards.
• Work with technology vendors and service partners to drive platform improvements and roadmap initiatives.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation for critical incidents.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 12+ years of experience in Enterprise Linux, including at least 5 years in Senior Linux Administration and 5 years in Linux Engineering.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with RHEL 6 onwards.
• Extensive experience with Red Hat Satellite Server, preferably Kickstart.
• Strong knowledge of PXE, DHCP, Redfish, and automated OS provisioning.
• Hands‑on experience creating standardized OS/container images across on‑premises, VMware, OpenShift, and cloud environments.
• Strong expertise in Red Hat OpenShift and experience with Kubernetes in cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Ansible, Bash, Python, Packer, and CI/CD/DevOps technologies.
• Strong understanding of DNS, NFS, NTP, SNMP, SMTP, Active Directory, TCP/IP, and Ethernet.
• Strong Linux troubleshooting, kernel analysis, performance tuning, and optimization skills.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring, logging, and SIEM solutions.
• Strong understanding of Linux security hardening and configuration management.
• RHCE certification required; RHCA is a plus.
• AWS/Azure certifications are advantageous.
