The ESG Coordinator supports the planning, execution and reporting of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and sustainability initiatives across Descon Engineering Limited’s Industrial Services Division. The role coordinates ESG data collection, compliance monitoring, and reporting across project sites and client engagements, ensuring alignment with Descon’s corporate sustainability strategy, applicable Pakistani regulatory requirements, client ESG/HSE codes of conduct, and recognised international frameworks (ISO 9001/14001/45001, GRI, IFRS S1 & S2, IFC Performance Standards).
Key Responsibilities
ESG Data & Reporting
- Collect, consolidate and validate environmental (energy, water, waste, emissions), social, and governance data from Industrial Services project sites and functions on a defined reporting cycle.
- Support in preparation of periodic ESG/sustainability reports and dashboards for internal management review and, where applicable, corporate-level disclosure (GRI, IFRS S1/S2-aligned formats).
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready ESG records, registers and documentation in line with Descon’s Integrated Management System (IMS).
Compliance Monitoring
- Track project- and site-level compliance against ISO 9001/14001/45001 requirements, environmental approvals (IEE/EIA, EPA NOCs), and client-specific HSE/ESG codes of conduct.
- Coordinate with Project/Site HSE teams to monitor closure of ESG- and compliance-related non-conformances, audit findings and corrective actions.
- Support the HSE Manager in preparing for and hosting internal audits, client audits, and third-party certification/surveillance audits (e.g., ISO recertification, EcoVadis).
Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as a coordination point between the Industrial Services Division, corporate Sustainability & Compliance function, project teams, clients and, where required, external consultants/auditors.
- Support engagement with regulators (Environmental Protection Agencies, labour departments) and industry bodies on ESG-related matters.
- Assist in organising ESG/HSE awareness sessions, toolbox talks and training for site and project personnel.
- Support gap assessments against ESG frameworks and client sustainability questionnaires/scorecards, and help track closure of identified gaps.
- Assist in supplier/subcontractor ESG screening and due-diligence documentation for the Industrial Services supply chain.
- Contribute to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities associated with Industrial Services projects and communities.
- Perform any other ESG-, sustainability- or compliance-related duties assigned by the Manager/Head – Sustainability, Compliance & HSE.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- A Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Management, QHSE, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in ESG, Sustainability, QHSE, or Regulatory Compliance, ideally within an EPC, industrial services, engineering, construction, or oil & gas environment.
- Prior exposure to multinational-client projects, ISO management systems (9001/14001/45001), or sustainability/ESG reporting frameworks is an advantage.
Fresh postgraduates with a strong academic background in Environmental/Sustainability studies and relevant internship experience may also be considered
Certifications (Preferred)
- ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001 Internal Auditor / Awareness certification (preferred).
- Exposure to GRI Standards, IFRS S1/S2, IFC Performance Standards, or EcoVadis assessment methodology is a plus.
- Strong data-management and analytical skills, including proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for report writing and cross-functional/client coordination.
- Working knowledge of Pakistani environmental, labour and OSH regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with international ESG/sustainability disclosure frameworks (GRI, IFRS S1/S2, IFC PS) is desirable.
- Well organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating across multiple project sites and stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel periodically to project/site locations as required.
