Role Overview
We are looking for a Healthcare Administrative Representative for US-based healthcare providers. The candidate will operate directly from the Edge Pakistan Office and must be comfortable working on-site to wear multiple hats in a fast-paced medical practice setting.
This role serves as a vital bridge between patients, healthcare providers, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will handle phone triage, scheduling, registration, insurance verification, telehealth coordination, and administrative EHR tasks while ensuring patients receive smooth, high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer and manage incoming patient calls, schedule visits, and confirm upcoming appointments to maximize provider schedules.
- Triage inbound calls, elevate urgent clinical cases to the appropriate provider or staff, and accurately log every interaction.
- Collect and verify complete patient registration and insurance card details.
- Verify patient eligibility, benefits, and insurance coverage (PPO, HMO, Medicare, Medicaid).
- Track and follow up on outstanding patient balances that are 90+ days past due.
- Handle basic billing, referral, and prior-authorization inquiries.
- Obtain external medical records, process lab orders, upload test results, and handle prescription refill workflows.
- Monitor EHR inboxes, update patient charts in a HIPAA-compliant manner, and maintain clean task queues.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a US healthcare administrative or medical office role.
- Must be comfortable working on-site at the Edge Pakistan Office
- Experience with athenahealth (Athena) and Spruce preferred; competency with telehealth platforms, Slack, Teams, and digital document tools.
- Strong understanding of US health insurance basics (PPO/HMO, copays, deductibles, prior auth), ICD/CPT terminology, and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent written and spoken English, exceptional attention to detail, strong multi-tasking capability, and a patient-centered, empathetic phone manner.
