Job summary

Motive is seeking an experienced underwriter to join the Risk Management team. You will assess financial risk for new and existing customers, reviewing statements, bank data, and credit reports, and collaborate with sales, data science, and product teams to improve customer experiences.

You will analyze financial documents, communicate application status, and determine approvability within policy guidelines, while upholding compliance and risk controls across the underwriting lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of underwriting experience in financial services, high-growth payments, or fintech.

Responsibilities

• Collect, review and analyze applicants' financial data and records.
• Communicate with clients & sales about application status.
• Explain why additional documents are needed to determine creditworthiness.
• Decide to approve, decline, or seek an exception per policy guidelines.
• Make timely quality decisions within SLA.
• Perform portfolio management and flag suspicious items.
• Suggest policy and process improvements to mitigate failures.
• Bank statement analysis and risk ratio analysis with underwriting memo.
