Job summary

Motive is seeking an experienced underwriting professional to join our Risk Management team in Islamabad. You will review and assess financial risk for new and existing customers, making decisions aligned with policy guidelines.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of underwriting experience in financial services, high-growth payments, or fintech.
• Strong critical reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Familiar with fundamentals of financial risk assessment.
• Familiar with the U.S. compliance, lending & regulatory environment (KYC, Reg B, Reg Z, UDAAP, FCBA, Truth in Lending Act).
• Experience with bank based & financial underwriting.
• Highly motivated, organized, reliable, and has demonstrated competency in mathematics and financial spreading.

Responsibilities

• Collect, review and analyze applicants' financial, demographic, and historic information and records, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, bank statements, and credit reports.
• Directly communicate with clients & sales about application status.
• Clearly articulate why and when additional documents are needed to determine creditworthiness.
• Make determinations to approve, decline or seek exceptions based on policy guidelines.
• Make timely, quality decisions within SLA; evaluate and identify suspicious items.
• Recommend policy and process improvements to mitigate failure points in underwriting.
• Bank statement analysis, financial spreading and risk ratio analysis culminating with underwriting memo.
