Legal Aid Society seeks a seasoned Legal Consultant to lead the legal services arm of a province-wide Grievance Redressal Mechanism for persons with disabilities. You will oversee milestones from intake to closure, provide timely legal advice, and coordinate with government counterparts.

Responsibilities include implementing disability rights law, drafting and managing SOPs, supervising GRM lawyers and driving strategic litigation where needed.

Qualificações

• LLB from a recognised university.
• Enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court.
• 3–5 years of relevant legal and litigation experience.
• Demonstrated experience in labour and employment law, including employment rights and discrimination.
• Strong knowledge of disability rights and the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018.
• Experience in constitutional, public interest or strategic litigation.
• Experience in grievance redressal, legal aid, administrative matters or rights-based casework.
• Proven experience coordinating with government officials and public institutions.
• Excellent legal drafting, case analysis and advocacy skills.
• Strong written and spoken English and Urdu. Sindhi is an advantage.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities or disability rights programmes is preferred.
• LLM in a relevant field or Bar-at-Law is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the legal services component of the GRM and oversee grievance resolution, legal advice, referrals, administrative facilitation, litigation and strategic legal interventions.
• Coordinate with relevant government counterparts and institutions.
• Maintain LAS’s case-management system with confidentiality and safeguarding for all records.
• Provide timely legal advice, prepare complaints, applications and notices, and follow up on referred cases until an outcome is reached.
• Handle significant litigation and supervise GRM litigation, including review of pleadings and opinions.
• Supervise GRM lawyers and implement capacity-building on disability legislation, employment rights and constitutional remedies.
• Maintain accurate case records and submit monthly legal progress reports; provide quarterly reporting inputs.
