Job summary

Legal Aid Society is seeking an experienced Legal Consultant to lead the legal services component of a province-wide Grievance Redressal Mechanism for persons with disabilities. The role oversees grievance resolution, legal advice, referrals, administrative facilitation, litigation and strategic interventions.

You will implement the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018, coordinate with government counterparts, maintain confidential case records, and report monthly progress

Qualifications

• LLB from a recognised university.
• Enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court.
• 3-5 years of relevant legal and litigation experience, including leadership or supervision.
• Experience in labour and employment law including rights and discrimination.
• Strong knowledge of disability rights and the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018.
• Experience in constitutional, public interest or strategic litigation.
• Experience in grievance redressal, legal aid, administrative matters or rights-based casework.
• Proven experience coordinating with government officials and public institutions.
• Excellent legal drafting, case analysis and advocacy skills.
• Fluent written and spoken English and Urdu; Sindhi is an advantage.
• Experience working with persons with disabilities or disability rights programmes preferred.
• LLM in a relevant field or Bar-at-Law preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the legal services component of the GRM, oversee case progression from intake to closure.
• Apply the Sindh Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2018 to grievances and systemic issues.
• Develop legal policies, SOPs and standards within six weeks.
• Coordinate with government officials and institutions as the principal legal focal person.
• Provide timely legal advice, prepare complaints, applications, representations, and follow up to case outcomes.
• Handle significant litigation and supervise GRM litigation.
• Supervise GRM lawyers; conduct case reviews and capacity-building on disability law.
• Maintain accurate case records and monthly/quarterly reporting.

Education

LLB from a recognised university

Enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court

LLM or Bar-at-Law preferred

Strong written and spoken English and Urdu; Sindhi an advantage
