Job summary

State Bank of Pakistan in Karachi seeks a qualified professional for the OG‑2 position in the Museum, Art Gallery & Archives Department (MAGAD). The role focuses on identification, preservation, cataloging, digitization and management of archival records.

You will liaise with donors and archives, maintain databases, provide training, prepare reports and support research to enhance SBP's archival systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree (at least 16 years) in Archaeology/History/Museology from HEC-recognized university.
• Course/training in Cataloguing from any Provincial or National Archives of Pakistan preferred.

Job description

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the Central Bank, is looking for a talented and dynamic professional for the following OG‑2 position in its Museum, Art Gallery & Archives Department (MAG&AD). The position is based in Karachi.

Key responsibilities of the incumbent will include, but not limited to, the following:

• Assist departments in identification and bifurcation of current and non‑current records.
• Assist concerned departments in evaluating records for preservation, conservation, and retention.
• Maintain a database of archived records in compliance with retention schedules and destruction protocols.
• Maintain rapport and liaison with donors and depositors of archives, both internal and external.
• Responsible for the acquisition, cataloging, organization, preservation, and digitization of records.
• Ensure proper storage conditions to maintain the longevity of records.
• Provide training and support to staff and stakeholders on archiving systems and procedures.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements for record‑keeping and storage in archival records and record rooms at SBP and SBP‑BSC.
• Conduct research to identify key developments and sources to improve the organization’s archiving system.
• Prepare archival reports and papers for management review and provide technical advice in decisions relating to archiving.
• Facilitate research requests regarding the Archive’s collections.
• Liaise with provincial and national archives to stay informed about archival standards, regulations, and best practices.

Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree (at least 16 years of education) in Archaeology/History/Museology from HEC recognized university or reputable foreign university.

Course/training program in Cataloguing from any Provincial or National Archives of Pakistan would be preferred.
