Job summary

ACCA Careers (UK-based accountancy firm with a back-office in Pakistan) is seeking a qualified Accountant to join our growing team in Lahore. You will review bookkeeping, supervise junior staff, prepare VAT returns and year-end accounts, and support the UK accounting team with client tasks.

This role requires ACCA qualification, UK practice experience, strong knowledge of VAT, FRS 102/105, IFRS, and proficiency with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar.

Qualifications

Job description

We are a UK-based accountancy firm headquartered in London, with a back-office team based in Pakistan. We are looking for a qualified Accountant to join our growing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing bookkeeping work, supervising junior team members, preparing VAT returns and year-end accounts, and supporting the UK accounting team with various client and accounting-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and oversee bookkeeping work prepared by Bookkeepers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Supervise and provide guidance to Bookkeepers and junior accounting staff.
• Prepare and submit UK VAT Returns in accordance with HMRC requirements.
• Prepare full statutory accounts for SMEs, partnerships and charities.
• Review trial balances, ledgers and financial statements and identify any errors or discrepancies.
• Assist with year-end accounting procedures and preparation of supporting schedules.
• Communicate with the UK-based accounting team regarding client queries, outstanding information and accounting issues.
• Ensure work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
• Assist with ad hoc accounting and finance-related tasks as required.

Requirements

• ACCA qualified.
• Previous experience working in an UK accountancy practice is required.
• Good knowledge of UK accounting and VAT principles, FRS 102, FRS 105, and IFRS.
• Experience preparing accounts for SMEs and/or partnerships.
• Experience with Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar accounting software.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to review and identify accounting errors.
• Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Previous experience supervising or reviewing the work of junior accounting staff would be an advantage.
