Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Process and record AP, AR and general ledger entries per policy.
• Monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reviews.
• Prepare month-end and year-end adjusting entries and schedules.
• Assist with VAT/ tax filings and external audits.
• Monitor expense trends and support cost allocations.
• Payroll data verification and posting payroll journals.
• Maintain fixed asset register and depreciation calculations.

Role overview

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to support transactional accounting, month‑end close, regulatory compliance and financial reporting for rail and road operations. The role involves processing day‑to‑day financial transactions, maintaining ledgers and reconciliations, assisting statutory filings and supporting external audits.

Key responsibilities

• Process and record AP, AR and general ledger entries in accordance with company policies
• Reconcile bank statements, intercompany accounts and balance sheet accounts monthly
• Prepare month‑end and year‑end adjusting entries, accruals and schedules to support financial close
• Assist with statutory tax filings, VAT/Sales tax reconciliations and support external audits with schedules/documentation
• Monitor and analyze expense trends and cost allocations; explain variances to management
• Support payroll data verification and ensure accurate posting of payroll‑related journals
• Maintain fixed asset register and calculate depreciation

Must‑have skills

• 3+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience (AP, AR, GL, reconciliations)
• Strong knowledge of Pakistan tax and VAT/Sales tax rules and filing procedures
• Proficiency with accounting software (Tally, QuickBooks, SAP FI)
• Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations)
• Experience preparing month‑end close entries, accruals and financial schedules
• Experience preparing audit schedules and supporting external audits
• Knowledge of fixed asset accounting and depreciation methodologies
• Good communication and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams

Preferred

• ACCA part‑qualified or CA articles/qualified candidates
• Experience in logistics, transportation or related industries
