Job summary

Center for Family Life in Sunset Park seeks enthusiastic AmeriCorps Volunteers to support youth engagement programs and promote student leadership development and career readiness. Volunteers will work with staff and middle school students to learn about the social work group model and contribute to afterschool activities.

Responsibilities include supervising students, co-facilitating clubs, attending trainings, assisting with events, and light office duties.

Qualifications

• Some college experience preferred.
• Experience working with youth on leadership development or college exploration.
• Must enjoy working with middle school students and collaborating with others.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Chinese is a plus.
• Experience with role playing games is a plus.
• 3 references required (2 must be professional).

Responsibilities

• Supervise students in activities and clubs focused on arts, homework assistance and enrichment.
• Co-facilitate afterschool clubs with CFL staff members.
• Attend trainings relating to social group work and team meetings.
• Assist in design and implementation of special events for middle school students and families.
• Co-facilitate weekly arts or teambuilding activities.
• Perform light office duties (data entry, filing, phones).
