Job summary

Center For Family Life in Sunset Park Inc is seeking a Part-Time Group Leader for PS 169 for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on supervising a group of participants in the program, collaborating with activity specialists and youth workers.

Responsibilities include planning engaging activities, supporting youth development, and coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver arts and literacy-based programming in a non-traditional classroom setting.

Qualifications

• Education/Degree minimum requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma
• Years of Experience: currently in College or 2 years of experience working with children
• Age: 18 years-old or older, preferred
• Strong youth development background
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
• Skilled in working with youth of all ages
• Flexible and possesses the ability to work well as a member of a team of different disciplines (artists, teachers, young-adult staff)
• Interested in creating positive experiences for groups of youth, including participants with special needs and challenging behaviors
• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and medical clearance

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate quality and educational instruction that fosters group work
• Participate with children in activities such as sports, music, art, dance and homework assistance
• Help participant grow and develop as individuals and bond as a group
• Guide children’s development and help them relate to each other and to adults
• Collaborate with a team of professional artists, social workers and youth workers to create an original production that engages 100+ participants in arts and literacy skill development
• Utilize restorative group-management skills in a non-traditional classroom setting
• Attend, supervise, and facilitate activities with participants on fieldtrips and off-site locations around NYC
• Contribute to the planning and execution of special events, staff development training, and other community building activities
• Support the program through additional tasks for safe operation and events
• Attend weekly professional development meetings
• Maintain a high energy level
• Adhere to agency and NYC Public School policies including CFL T-shirt and suitable clothing
