Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Supply Chain & Procurement Manager – Global Inventory Planning & Logistics to manage purchasing plans, inventory, overseas suppliers, and international logistics for our Australian and US markets. This role combines demand planning, purchase order management, factory negotiations, landed-cost control, and import coordination to ensure products arrive on time, inventory remains accurate, and supply chain costs are optimized.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience building purchasing plans from sales forecasts, negotiating directly with overseas factories, and managing international freight and customs. Experience sourcing from China is strongly preferred. You must be comfortable working across Australian and US business hours.
Schedule
- Comfortable working across AU and US hours; Newtown NSW
Key Responsibilities
Demand & Inventory Planning
- Update AU and US purchasing plans based on sales forecasts and changing demand.
- Monitor stock on hand, open orders, and forecasted demand by SKU, channel, and market; identify shortages and excess inventory early.
- Maintain reorder points, safety stock, and weeks‑of‑cover targets.
Procurement & Supplier Management
- Raise, issue, and track purchase orders with overseas factories and suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, MOQs, payment terms, and lead times with contract manufacturers.
- Manage production schedules, packaging, labels, components, product specifications, quality standards, and pre‑shipment inspections.
- Develop landed‑cost models by SKU and identify savings in product costs, freight, and duties.
- Qualify alternative suppliers to reduce sourcing risks and prevent production delays.
International Logistics & Import Compliance
- Coordinate inbound sea and air freight from China and other overseas suppliers to AU and US warehouses.
- Track shipments from factory dispatch through warehouse receipt and proactively resolve delays.
- Manage customs clearance, duties, import documentation, and compliance in both markets.
- Coordinate with third‑party logistics providers (3PLs) and reconcile warehouse receipts against purchase orders.
Systems, Finance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate inventory, purchase orders, receipts, and landed costs in Cin7 or a similar ERP/inventory system.
- Reconcile inventory values and landed costs with Finance using Xero or equivalent accounting software.
- Track and report purchase order commitments, advance supplier payments, outstanding balances, freight and duty costs, and overall spending against budget.
- Provide weekly updates on stock levels, open orders, inbound shipments, supply risks, and key performance indicators.
- Supply accurate inventory and payment timing data for cash flow forecasting.
Qualifications & Requirements
Must Have
- 4+ years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or inventory planning, preferably in consumer products.
- Proven track record of personally owning the full end-to-end planning cycle within a lean team, startup, or small-to-medium business (SMB) environment, rather than delegating across corporate shared‑service teams.
- Hands‑on experience creating forecast‑based purchasing plans and managing purchase orders.
- Advanced inventory planning capabilities, including converting sales forecasts into multi-tier Bill of Materials (BOM) component‑level purchasing schedules, setting dynamic safety stock thresholds calculated against supplier lead times, and building rolling 6–12 month forward inventory cash/spend projections for Finance.
- Demonstrated autonomy and ownership over spend/cost decisions, purchase commitments, and inventory trade‑offs without requiring step‑by‑step management sign‑off.
- Extensive hands‑on experience directly communicating with, managing, and placing purchase orders with Chinese suppliers and factories.
- Working knowledge of international freight, Incoterms, customs clearance, and import compliance.
- Hands‑on coordination of international freight quoting, forwarder booking, 3PL warehouse intake, and customs handling.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including building inventory and landed‑cost models.
- Experience with Cin7 or a comparable inventory management or ERP system.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and take ownership of results.
- Availability to work across Australian and US business hours.
Nice to Have
- Experience sourcing from China, including supplier management, factory visits, and quality inspections.
- Experience managing supply chains for both Australian and US markets.
