Job summary

ConnectOS is seeking a highly analytical Risk Control Specialist to identify fraud patterns in card-based payment flows and design risk control strategies. You will investigate suspicious transactions and collaborate with product, engineering, compliance, and banking partners to maintain a secure payment ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of experience in payment risk or fraud prevention, with fluency in Mandarin and English, and strong SQL/Python skills.

Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and proactive Risk Control Specialist to join our growing risk management team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying fraud and risk patterns across card-based payment flows, designing and optimizing risk control strategies, and investigating suspicious activities to protect the business and its customers. You will work closely with product, engineering, compliance, banking partners, and card networks to ensure a secure and compliant payment ecosystem.

The ideal candidate has experience in payment risk, fraud prevention, or financial crime operations within crypto exchanges, Web3 payment platforms, cross-border payments, or payment anti-fraud environments. Strong data analysis skills, a deep understanding of card payment risks, and fluency in both Mandarin and English are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

1. Risk analysis and pattern identification: Use transaction and user behaviour data to identify risk patterns in card-based deposit/withdrawal flows, including fraud, cash-out abuse, stolen card/card-not-present (CNP) fraud, and malicious chargebacks. Produce risk analysis reports.
2. Strategy development and optimisation: Independently design, deploy, and tune risk control strategies (blacklists/whitelists, rule engines, risk scoring, etc.), covering application-level anti-fraud, transaction-level anti-fraud, and account risk monitoring.
3. Case investigation and remediation: Conduct in-depth analysis of suspicious transactions and organised fraud rings, and translate findings into playbooks that feed back into strategy improvements.
4. Metrics monitoring and review: Continuously monitor core metrics such as strategy hit rate, false-positive rate, and fraud loss rate, with regular reviews and iteration.
5. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, compliance, customer support, banks, and card networks to drive risk issues through to resolution.

Requirements

1. Experience

• 3-5 years of relevant risk control experience, with hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
  • Crypto exchanges / Web3 payment platforms.
  • Cross-border payment platforms.
  • Payment anti-fraud platforms.

2. Technical expertise

• Familiar with risk points across the card deposit/withdrawal chain (3DS, chargebacks, cash-out abuse, stolen/CNP fraud, etc.).
• Familiar with risk control logic for prepaid/virtual card issuance (application anti-fraud, transaction monitoring, money laundering detection, etc.).
• Able to independently design and implement risk strategies, with a quantitative mindset around measuring strategy effectiveness.

3. Mindset and qualities

• Data-sensitive with clear logical thinking; able to spot risk patterns within large datasets.
• Highly self-driven; able to independently push issues to resolution rather than relying on being assigned tasks.
• Resilient under pressure; able to respond to sudden risk events.

4. Data analysis skills

• Proficiency in SQL with the ability to independently extract and analyse data is required;
• Experience with Python and/or BI tools (Tableau, Metabase, etc.) is a plus.

5. Language skills

Fluent in both Mandarin and English (spoken and written).

6. Other pluses

• Experience applying risk models / machine learning.
• Familiarity with major card network rules (Visa VAMP, Mastercard Excessive Chargeback Program, etc.).
• Knowledge of overseas regulatory frameworks (MSB, MiCA, VASP, etc.).
