As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor in a biofuel set-up, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the water and wastewater treatment processes within the facility.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of operators and technicians in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment processes in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- Monitor and analyze process data, such as flow rates, chemical dosages, and quality parameters, to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reductions.
- Ensure that all water and wastewater treatment operations adhere to environmental regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve compliance.
- Provide leadership, training, and performance management to the operations team. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule and perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on equipment and systems. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of process operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance. Generate reports on plant performance, efficiency, and environmental compliance as required.
- Assist in developing and managing the departmental budget. Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and chemicals, to ensure cost-effective operation.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as production, quality control, and engineering, to support biofuel production goals, resolve interdepartmental issues, and implement process improvements.
- Stay updated with advancements in water and wastewater treatment technologies, regulations, and industry practices. Propose and implement process enhancements to achieve operational excellence and sustainability goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or licenses in water and wastewater treatment are desirable.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in operating and managing water and wastewater treatment processes, preferably in a biofuel or related industry.
- Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies, processes, and equipment, including anaerobic digestion, activated sludge, membrane filtration, and chemical dosing.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to water and wastewater treatment, such as EPA guidelines.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using software tools.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
