Job description

As a Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Supervisor in a biofuel set-up, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of the water and wastewater treatment processes within the facility.

Responsibilities

1. Lead a team of operators and technicians in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment processes in compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
2. Monitor and analyze process data, such as flow rates, chemical dosages, and quality parameters, to identify opportunities for process optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost reductions.
3. Ensure that all water and wastewater treatment operations adhere to environmental regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to achieve compliance.
4. Provide leadership, training, and performance management to the operations team. Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
5. Coordinate with maintenance staff to schedule and perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on equipment and systems. Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
6. Maintain accurate records and documentation of process operations, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance. Generate reports on plant performance, efficiency, and environmental compliance as required.
7. Assist in developing and managing the departmental budget. Optimize resource allocation, including personnel, equipment, and chemicals, to ensure cost-effective operation.
8. Collaborate with other departments, such as production, quality control, and engineering, to support biofuel production goals, resolve interdepartmental issues, and implement process improvements.
9. Stay updated with advancements in water and wastewater treatment technologies, regulations, and industry practices. Propose and implement process enhancements to achieve operational excellence and sustainability goals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications or licenses in water and wastewater treatment are desirable.
• Proven experience (5+ years) in operating and managing water and wastewater treatment processes, preferably in a biofuel or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies, processes, and equipment, including anaerobic digestion, activated sludge, membrane filtration, and chemical dosing.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting requirements related to water and wastewater treatment, such as EPA guidelines.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting using software tools.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
