Kaertech Electronic Philippines, Incorporated is seeking a Test Engineer to provide hands-on technical support for production test activities in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.
The role focuses on circuit analysis, failure analysis, debugging, and continuous quality improvement, with emphasis on reliability and efficient test processes. Candidates with experience with automated testers and strong problem‑solving skills are preferred.
Job Summary:
The Test Engineer is responsible for providing hands‑on technical support to production by ensuring that testing processes, equipment, and procedures are reliable, effective, and capable of detecting product defects. The role focuses on circuit analysis, failure analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, and continuous quality improvement.
He or she will work in a fast‑paced electronics manufacturing environment and respond promptly to production and quality issues. Experience in electronics manufacturing is highly preferred, particularly candidates who have worked with automated or semi‑automated testers and are familiar with the urgency, discipline, and teamwork required in a production setting.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Production Test Support
Provide hands‑on technical support to production for test‑related issues and concerns.
Monitor test processes and ensure testers, fixtures, and test equipment are functioning properly.
Respond promptly to test failures, production issues, and equipment‑related concerns.
Support production during new product introduction, process changes, and ramp‑up activities.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Process Engineering, and other departments to minimize production downtime.
Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting
Analyze failed units and determine the root cause of test failures.
Perform circuit analysis, debugging, and troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and products.
Investigate recurring test failures and identify whether the issue is related to the product, tester, fixture, process, or components.
Use appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electronic test instruments.
Document failure analysis findings and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
Test Equipment & Fixture Support
Maintain and troubleshoot production testers, test fixtures, and associated equipment.
Coordinate with relevant teams or suppliers for tester and fixture repairs, modifications, and improvements.
Verify the functionality and reliability of test equipment before deployment to production.
Support preventive maintenance and calibration activities for test equipment, as applicable.
Identify opportunities to improve tester reliability, test coverage, and ease of use.
Quality Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve product quality through effective testing and failure detection.
Analyze test data and failure trends to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunities.
Develop and implement corrective actions to reduce test failures, defects, and false failures.
Improve test processes to increase reliability, repeatability, efficiency, and test coverage.
Participate in continuous improvement and problem‑solving activities.
Test Process & Documentation
Develop, review, and maintain test procedures, work instructions, test specifications, and troubleshooting guides.
Ensure test processes are properly documented and followed by production personnel.
Maintain records of test failures, analysis results, corrective actions, and process improvements.
Support the implementation and validation of changes to test processes and equipment.
New Product Introduction (NPI) & Engineering Support
Support new product introduction by reviewing test requirements and ensuring test readiness prior to production launch.
Participate in prototype, pilot, and production builds to identify and resolve test‑related issues.
Support the development, validation, and optimization of test fixtures and equipment.
Work with Engineering and Quality teams to ensure products are adequately tested against defined requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
Preferably 2–5 years of experience in Test Engineering, Electronics Manufacturing, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related role.
Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of electronic circuits, circuit analysis, and electronic components.
Strong skills in failure analysis, debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Experience working with electronic testers, test fixtures, or automated test equipment is an advantage.
Proficient in using electronic test and measurement equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and similar instruments.
Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and basic statistical analysis is an advantage.
Basic understanding of programming or scripting is an advantage but not a primary requirement.
Ability to read and interpret electrical/electronic schematics and technical documentation.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work effectively in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment.
