Job description

The Tendering & Contracts Head is responsible for managing the full tendering lifecycle and overseeing contract administration to ensure that all bids, proposals, and contracts align with company objectives and client expectations. This role ensures commercial and legal risks are minimized, pricing is competitive, and projects are executed under favorable terms.

Key Responsibilities:

Tendering & Bidding:

  • Lead and manage the end-to-end tendering process for projects, including evaluation of tender documents, preparation of technical and commercial proposals, and timely submission.
  • Review client requirements, scope of work, specifications, and drawings to ensure accurate cost and compliance assessments.
  • Coordinate with estimation, engineering, procurement, finance, and legal teams for input on bids.
  • Prepare and present risk analysis and bid strategies to senior management for review and approval.
  • Ensure all submitted tenders comply with technical, financial, and legal requirements.
  • Manage post-bid clarifications, revisions, and negotiations with clients.

Contract Management:

  • Review and negotiate contract terms and conditions in coordination with legal and commercial teams.
  • Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks during contract review and execution.
  • Ensure proper documentation, version control, and handover of contract terms to project and execution teams.
  • Monitor contract compliance and performance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage contract amendments, claims, variations, and extensions in coordination with project managers.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for contractual matters with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.

Leadership & Strategy:

  • Develop and implement tendering and contract management policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain a database of pricing, cost benchmarks, and market intelligence to improve future bids.
  • Lead and mentor the tendering/contracts team to enhance performance and efficiency.
  • Establish strong relationships with external partners, suppliers, and key stakeholders.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field. A Master’s degree or certification in Contract Management (e.g., FIDIC is an advantage.)
  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in tendering, bidding, and contract management, preferably in the construction, infrastructure, or engineering sectors.
  • Strong understanding of technical, commercial, legal, and contractual principles.
  • Proven track record in successful bid submissions and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and tendering or contract management software (e.g., Primavera, ERP systems).
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
