Job Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Quantity Surveying/Construction Management.
- Experience: With 3-5 years of experience in contracts management, preferably within the construction or infrastructure industry.
Responsibilities
The Contracts Engineer is responsible for the contractual and commercial health of construction projects. This role ensures all project activities comply with the legal and commercial terms of the contract, managing risk, controlling claims, and overseeing contractual documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Contract Management:
- Review, interpret, and summarize main contracts and subcontracts.
- Ensure all project operations adhere strictly to contractual terms and conditions.
- Claims and Variation Management:
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate contractual claims (time and cost) and variations (Change Orders).
- Maintain detailed records and documentation to support all claims and contractual correspondence.
- Risk and Compliance:
- Identify potential contractual risks and advise the project team on mitigation strategies.
- Administer essential documentation, including securing, tracking, and verifying insurance certificates and performance bonds.
- Correspondence and Records:
- Draft and manage all formal contractual letters and correspondence.
- Organize and maintain a comprehensive, auditable system for all contract-related documents.
