Microchip Technology Inc. in the Philippines is seeking a PTC Lab Technician to calibrate and maintain Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and temperature-forcing systems, oversee compressor maintenance, and ensure the lab is adequately equipped to meet business unit needs.

You will collaborate with IS, Network, cybersecurity, and vendor teams; manage tool shipments, inventory, and 5S lab standards; and follow safety, ESD, and change-management procedures while upholding Microchip’s guiding values.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical education in electronics or related field.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience with ATE and electronics lab equipment.
  • Working knowledge of calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair practices.
  • Basic familiarity with Windows and Linux, and network connectivity concepts.
  • Ability to follow controlled procedures and communicate with engineers and vendors.
  • Ability to work onsite in an ESD-controlled lab.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, troubleshoot, calibrate, maintain, and repair PTC lab equipment.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for ATE and temperature-forcing systems.
  • Monitor compressor condition and coordinate maintenance.
  • Provide first-line assessment of tester-host and software connectivity issues.
  • Coordinate with IS, Network, and vendor groups to restore services.
  • Support tester-library, operator-interface, and recovery media checks.
  • Manage shipments of tools and boards, including packing and documents.
  • Maintain lab inventories of hardware, tooling, and spare parts.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety, ESD, and change-management requirements.
  • Foster Microchip Guiding Values in daily work.

Job description

The PTC Lab Technician is mainly responsible for the calibration and preventive maintenance of various equipment in the PTC Lab, including Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and temperature-forcing systems. Additionally, the technician will oversee the condition of compressors and manage the preventive maintenance schedule. This role requires interaction with personnel from Business Units, Administration/Operations, and Suppliers/Vendors to ensure that the PTC Lab is adequately equipped to meet the needs of our Business Unit customers.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the setup, troubleshooting, maintenance, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of the following equipment in the PTC Lab:
  • a. Automated Test Equipment (ATE): Teradyne J750 (STD/HD), ETS300/88, DiamondX/D10, Maverick, Magnum, SPEA DOT800
  • b. Temperature Forcing Systems: Thermojet
  • Monitor compressor condition and coordinate scheduled maintenance and specialist service.
  • Provide first-line assessment of tester-host, peripheral, software-interface, connectivity, and access issues; collect symptoms, error details, affected assets, and business impact.
  • Engage and coordinate with the correct IS, Network, Cybersecurity, infrastructure, equipment-owner, global support, or vendor group; track issues through verified restoration
  • Support approved tester-library, operator-interface, software-version, recovery-media, backup, and configuration checks under the standards of the organization responsible
  • Handle the shipment of tools and boards including the preparation of shipping documents and packing of items.
  • Maintain hardware, tooling, spare-parts, and peripheral inventories; support shipments, documentation, and laboratory 5S.
  • Follow laboratory safety, ESD, equipment-control, access, cybersecurity, and change-management requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:
What you bring
  • Associate degree, vocational qualification, or technology-related education in Electronics, Electrical, Computer, Mechatronics, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • At least five years of hands-on experience with ATE, electronics equipment, engineering laboratory equipment, industrial test systems, or a related environment.
  • Working knowledge of calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair practices, and technical documentation.
  • Basic understanding of Windows and Linux computers, hardware and peripherals, software installation concepts, accounts and permissions, IP addressing, and network connectivity.
  • Ability to follow controlled procedures accurately and communicate effectively with engineers, managers, IS teams, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Ability to work onsite in an ESD-controlled semiconductor engineering laboratory.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with J750, ETS300/88, DiamondX/D10, Maverick, Magnum, SPEA DOT800, or Thermojet systems.
  • Exposure to semiconductor test, validation, characterization, manufacturing, or engineering-lab operations.
  • Experience coordinating with IT/IS, Network Engineering, equipment vendors, calibration providers, or field-service teams.
  • Basic programming or scripting exposure, such as C, C++, PowerShell, or Python.

This is primarily an equipment-sustainment position with first-line lab-systems coordination responsibilities. Enterprise network architecture, firewall policy, identity, cybersecurity, servers, and other privileged infrastructure changes remain with authorized Microchip organizations.

What success looks like

Equipment is calibrated and maintained on schedule; records remain accurate; issues are assessed and routed quickly; repairs and system changes are validated before return to service; and laboratory support knowledge is documented and shared.

Other Requirements:

Experience and knowledge in D1X/D10, Magnum, J750 ATEs a plus but not a must.

Basic knowledge in programming language such as C or C++.
