Job summary

Avid Technology in Manila, Philippines, is seeking a technical writer to produce user manuals and installation/configuration documentation for Avid Sibelius, ProTools, and related products. The role sits in BGC, Taguig, reporting to the documentation manager in Burlington, MA, and follows US East Coast hours.

You will collaborate with Engineering, QA, and Product Management, ensuring clear, accurate materials and maintaining documentation through product lifecycles.

Qualifications

About the Role

Avid Technology is looking for a technical writer capable of producing user manuals as well as software installation and system configuration documentation. In this role you will work closely with Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Product Management teams. The position will be based in BGC, Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines and the applicant will report to the documentation manager in Burlington, Massachusetts. The applicant is expected to work within the standard operating hours of the US, East Coast (UTC−04:00). The applicant will be responsible for updating and maintaining the documentation for Avid Sibelius, Avid ProTools, and related products. Therefore, experience with Sibelius and ProTools is considered highly valuable or almost mandatory. This is a Technical Writing position, and any applicant must demonstrate the ability to create this kind of content. Responsibilities and Duties

• Produce user-focused materials that clearly describe the operation of Avid software.
• Create administrator-focused installation and system configuration manuals that focus on deeper, more technical concepts and processes.
• Follow existing processes for updating documentation and tracking changes for the lifetime of the assigned product.

Qualifications & Skills

• Fluent speaking, reading, and writing in English (all documentation is written in English).
• Strong organizational skills. Manage multiple, simultaneous products/projects and deliver under deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Familiarity with Avid ProTools (v2024.10 or later).
• Familiarity with music notation software and ability to read musical scores.
• Technical writing experience.
• Familiarity with Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android.

Additional Desired Skills & Qualifications

• B.S. or B.A. in engineering or technical communications with sufficient relevant work experience.
• 2+ years of experience as a technical writer.
• Experience with MadCap Flare / MadCap Central.
• Familiarity with creating content in Markdown.
• Domain knowledge in audio recording, music production, and post‑production workflows.
• Experience with other Avid products, including, but not limited to, Avid MediaComposer and Avid NEXIS.
• Familiarity with Adobe systems such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
