Job summary

East-West Seed seeks a Technical Seed Production Manager to oversee the production of technical seed, ensuring high quality and cost-effective output. You will ensure stockseed requirements are met for the commercial seed production team and coordinate with the SS coordinator for stock seed availability.

Job description

The Technical Seed Production (TSP) Manager is responsible for overseeing the production of technical seed, ensuring both high quality and sufficient quantity and produce in a cost effective way. The role ensures stockseed requirements by the commercial seed production department are served on time, communicates in a timely manner with the customers in coordination with the SS coordinator if there is an issue on stock seed availability, monitors usage of stock seed distributed in commercial seed production areas, coordinates with the Agronomy team, seed production request and distribution, monitors stock seed inventory health by ensuring all batches in the system have updated information, and ensures smooth operations across all TSP locations.

Responsibilities:

• Make a budgetary plan for the department
• Prepare and allocate TSP target in coordination with Group Planners.
• Produce sufficient quantity and quality of parental seeds based on quality standards.
• Produce parental seeds based on production guidelines.
• Monitor Technical seed inventory and coordinate with QC personnel for an on time updating of quality information in the system
• Allocate, prepare stock seed requirements for the commercial seed production team and ensure on time distribution.
• Ensure coordination and timely request and arrival of parentals from sister companies
• Monitor stock seed distribution in the field by conducting parental confirmation and audit SS handling in coordination with the commercial seed production team and TSP supervisor.
• Promote process improvement mindset within the department.
• Share and implement best practices among and within the TSP group.
• Ensure smooth operations in all TSP farms
• Prepare department updates/reports for other department heads and top management.
• Actively participate in all company/department meetings.
• Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, with a major in Agronomy, Horticulture, or a closely related field
• Requires a minimum of five years of direct experience working in Breeding and/or Seed Production
• Understanding of Horticulture, Plant Breeding, Biotech, Seed Pathology, Seed Technology, and Seed Physiology
• Strong capabilities in decision-making, planning, and administrative management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, paired with strong analytical and interpersonal abilities
