Job summary

Dempsey Resource Management seeks a highly experienced Technical Manager for Pet Food to lead research and development across snacks, biscuits, beverages, confections and dairy products. You will manage cross-functional teams, oversee cost sheets and budgeting, and ensure regulatory compliance for local pet food registrations.

The role requires strong technical, analytical, and leadership skills and collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Operations, and Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, DVM or closely related field.
• Certifications in Pet Food Safety and regulatory requirements.
• At least 10 years of experience in Product Research & Development in a managerial capacity.
• Experience in costing, budgeting, pilot plant-testing, scale-up, shelf-life studies.
• Knowledge of local registrations and compliance for pet food products.
• Ability to manage multiple projects from concept to launch with budgets and timelines.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance.
• Strong leadership, analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to engage pet food suppliers to accelerate development.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree graduate in Animal Science, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, or closely related course is required. Certifications in Pet Food Safety and regulatory requirements for pet food products. At least 10 years of experience in Product Research; Development work for pet food products in a managerial capacity encompassing both raw materials and packaging materials. Intensive understanding of pet food product costing and its critical elements. Has the capability to scrutinize cost sheets that would result to cost improvement. Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting. Experience in pilot plant-testing, scale-up, shelf-life studies, and product troubleshooting. In-depth knowledge in local product registrations, regulatory, legal and compliance requirement related to pet food products (e.g., Bureau of Animal Industry / FDA equivalents) and distribution. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept to launch, including managing budgets and timelines. Excellent interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaborations with Marketing, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain and Finance. Ability to analyze pet food market trends, characterize pet food competitor products, and understand market feedback to drive innovations. Has the capability to utilize market trends and market feedback to develop pet food products with compelling product differentiation that does not compromise Pet Care, Animal Nutrition. Excellent Technical, Analytical, Problem-solving and Decision-making Skills. Has capability to tap pet food suppliers of raw materials and ingredients and optimize the technical advancement they internally have to fast track pet food product development work. Systematize annual Innovation Day with selected pet food suppliers. High proficiency in computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and specialized recipe (BOM) management software. Proficiency in English, both verbal or written, is required.
