Job summary

Sourcedpeople seeks a Tax Accounting Lead-AU to join a high-performing team. You will reconcile and prepare financial statements and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies, bringing at least five years of Australian tax firm experience.

You will mentor junior staff and lead tax reviews across entities. The role requires strong knowledge of Division 7A, FBT, CGT, superannuation and payroll tax, with hands-on experience using Xero and related tools.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience with an Australian tax firm.
• Experience reviewing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies.
• Experience mentoring and training junior staff.
• Strong knowledge of Division 7A, FBT, CGT, superannuation, payroll tax and other Australian tax matters.
• Experience using Xero and related practice management tools.

Job description

As a Tax Accounting Lead-AU , you will work as part of a high-performing team to reconcile and prepare financial statements and tax returns for individuals, partnerships, trusts and companies. You will have at least five years of experience working with an Australian tax firm and have previously worked on businesses with a turnover of between AU $1-50m. An experienced team leader, you give actionable feedback and enjoy mentoring and training junior staff. Experience working with primary producers/ agricultural businesses is preferable but not necessary.

General Tasks

• Oversee and review the work of junior and intermediate accountants, providing guidance and support to ensure work is completed to established quality standards
• Take ownership and responsibility for reviewing tax jobs delegated to you, including individual tax returns, partnerships, trusts and companies
• Review and finalise Business Activity Statements
• Train and mentor junior and intermediate accountants, providing technical guidance and support to assist with their development
• Prepare client emails and correspondence, ensuring information is communicated clearly and professionally
• Prepare and review more complex tax jobs, including large and integrated client groups
• Review tax work to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with relevant Australian tax requirements across all entity types
• Demonstrate a strong understanding of Division 7A, FBT, CGT, superannuation, payroll tax and other relevant Australian tax matters to effectively review work and provide guidance to junior and intermediate accountants
• Competently working in systems including Xero, Xero Practice Manager, MS365, Xero Tax, Xero Workpapers, CAS360, AccountKit, MYOB, Quickbooks, Agrimaster, Phoenix.
