Responsible for designing and developing telecommunications network infrastructure within a data centre to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performance connectivity services. The role works closely with network engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to produce technical designs, specifications, and implementation documentation that support the deployment and operation of telecommunications systems and associated infrastructure.
The Telecommunications Engineer works closely with Network Engineers, vendors, and consultants to develop and deliver optimal telecommunications solutions that meet Engineering customers' requirements. This involves designing telecommunications networks and systems, preparing technical methodologies, specifications, and supporting documentation, and overseeing the deployment of telecommunications infrastructure such as transmission systems, fibre optic networks, carrier equipment, network sites, and associated supporting infrastructure to ensure reliable, scalable, and high-performing network services.
You would be working with other team members within Engineering and other departments to ensure the solutions are fit for purpose.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Telecommunications Design
- Design and develop telecommunications infrastructure including fibre optic, transmission, structured cabling, and network connectivity solutions for data centre environments.
- Prepare technical documentation such as network designs, schematics, specifications, installation standards, capacity plans, and implementation methodologies to support project delivery.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary stakeholders including network engineers, electrical, mechanical, and facilities teams to ensure telecommunications systems are fully integrated with the data centre infrastructure.
- Support deployment, testing, and commissioning activities by providing technical guidance, resolving design issues, and ensuring telecommunications systems meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
Ensuring Solutions and products compliance with:
- IT and Digital Networks
- Alarm Management Systems.
- Security policies.
