First Philec, Inc is seeking a sourcing professional responsible for technical sourcing and specification analysis to ensure supplier quotations meet both technical and commercial requirements. You will work with Engineering and end-users to optimize specifications, reduce total cost, and drive supplier development initiatives.
You will assess supplier capabilities, participate in RFQ/RFP processes, conduct bid evaluations, and negotiate terms with a focus on TCO, quality, and risk mitigation.
Technical Sourcing & Specification Analysis - Ability to understand and evaluate engineering drawings, technical specifications, Bills of Materials (BOM), scopes of work (SOW), and other technical requirements to ensure supplier quotations are technically compliant and commercially comparable.
Value Engineering & Specification Optimization - Ability to challenge over-specified requirements and work with Engineering and end-users to identify fit-for-purpose alternatives, standardization opportunities, alternative materials/specifications, and other solutions that reduce total cost without compromising safety, quality, reliability, or performance.
Supplier Technical Capability Assessment - Ability to assess supplier manufacturing/service capabilities, equipment, processes, capacity, technical competency, quality systems, certifications, and ability to meet FPI’s technical and operational requirements.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development - Working knowledge of sourcing processes including market scanning, RFQ/RFP preparation, supplier identification, supplier qualification, competitive bidding, bid evaluation, negotiation, supplier development, and performance management.
Technical-Commercial Bid Evaluation – Ability to perform an apple-to-apple comparison of supplier proposals, considering technical compliance, commercial terms, lead time, quality, capacity, warranty, service support, risks, and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), rather than evaluating suppliers based on price alone.
Negotiation & Commercial Acumen – Ability to prepare negotiation strategies using cost analysis, market intelligence, historical pricing, supplier competition, volume leverage, technical alternatives, and other commercial levers; capable of independently handling routine to moderately complex supplier negotiations.
Indirect Spend & Market Intelligence – Ability to analyze indirect spend, supplier base, market trends, commodity/service cost drivers, industry benchmarks, and alternative supply markets to identify sourcing opportunities and potential supply risks.
Contract & Commercial Terms Understanding – Working knowledge of purchase terms and conditions, payment terms, warranties, liabilities, service-level requirements, NDAs, contracts, and other commercial provisions relevant to supplier engagements.
Problem Solving & Supply Risk Management – Ability to identify and resolve supplier, delivery, quality, billing, capacity, and technical commercial issues, perform basic root-cause analysis, and develop alternative sourcing or mitigation plans when required.
