Job summary

JOB DESCRIPTION – STRAPPING OPERATOR

Job Title: Strapping Operator
Department: Production – Strapping / Packing
Reports To: Line Leader / Supervisor
Location: Poomalur Division

1. Job Purpose

To operate the strapping machine safely and efficiently and ensure that finished products are properly strapped, packed, and prepared for the next process or dispatch as per the required quality and packing standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Operate the assignedstrapping machine safely and efficiently.
• Strap cartons, bundles, or packed garments as per the specified packing requirements.
• Ensure proper positioning and alignment of straps.
• Maintain the requiredstrap tension without damaging cartons or products.
• Ensure correct quantity and arrangement of garments/products before strapping.
• Achieve the assigned daily production target.
• Check the quality and condition of straps, cartons, and packing materials.
• Identify and report damaged, loose, broken, or incorrectly positioned straps.
• Ensure the correct type and size of strapping material is used.
• Check the machine before starting work and report abnormalities or breakdowns.
• Perform basic machine cleaning and routine care as instructed.
• Inform the Maintenance Team immediately in case of machine malfunction.
• Ensure packed cartons/bundles are properly labelled and transferred to the designated area.
• Maintain proper housekeeping and 5S at the workstation.
• Follow all production, quality, safety, and company procedures.
• Coordinate with the Packing, Quality, Stores, and Production teams.
• Minimize material wastage and avoid unnecessary strap consumption.

3. Quality Responsibilities

• Ensure straps are properly tightened and securely fixed.
• Check that straps are straight, properly positioned, and free from damage.
• Ensure cartons/bundles are not damaged during strapping.
• Verify packing quantity and product arrangement before strapping.
• Segregate defective or damaged packing materials.
• Report quality issues immediately to the Line Leader / Quality Checker.

4. Safety Responsibilities

• Operate the strapping machine only after proper training.
• Follow all machine safety instructions and use safety guards where provided.
• Keep hands away from moving and cutting parts of the machine.
• Use proper PPE as required.
• Do not attempt unauthorized machine repairs.
• Keep the working area clean and free from obstacles.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately to the Supervisor.
