The Role:
We’re seeking a Steel Checker. This role is designed for a quality assurance specialist who reviews and validates detailed drawings and specifications for the fabrication and construction of steel structures, with an in-depth understanding of building codes, steel construction techniques, and fabrication processes.
You’ll play a key role in collaborating with architects, engineers, and detailers to ensure all steel components are accurately designed, meet industry standards and safety regulations, and are buildable, identifying and correcting errors before fabrication and construction.

Location: Must be in The Philippines – Remote.
Environment: Philippines and International Teams.
Language: Advanced English (B2+ - C1).
Timezone: Monday to Friday – 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM MST.
Contract: Full Time

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Experience: At least 1 year of industry experience; 2D scrubbing experience; at least 1 year of experience with Tekla; experience in a multi-client environment.
• Skills: Ability to distinguish architectural, structural, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trade drawings; able to understand and use drawing scale and basic plan/section nomenclature; can build models using Tekla Structures and write RFIs; can coordinate and gather information between trade drawings and locate and assess conflicts; able to interpret relevant information about structural and miscellaneous steel in sections and plans.
• Characteristics: Strong organization, oral and written communication skills; analytical skills with particular attention to detail; able to function in an autonomous environment as an independent, self-directed worker.

Responsibilities:

• Verify fabrication drawings to ensure they are error-free and compliant with applicable codes and standards, and review shop drawings for structural and miscellaneous steel to confirm dimensions, welds, holes, and connection details meet AISC, AWS, and project standards.
• Handle complete erection documentation, confirming erection drawings include all information needed for accurate and safe steel installation.
• Ensure 3D models are fully detailed (up to LOD 400) and free from conflicts, using basic 3D modeling tools to inspect for potential clashes or errors.
• Conduct weld, fastener, dimension, and tolerance verification, and evaluate depicted construction methods and fabrication processes to ensure drawings are feasible, practical, and in line with manufacturing capabilities.
• Read and interpret architectural and structural plans and specifications, enforce detailing standards across projects, maintain organized records of checked drawings with discrepancies and recommended revisions, and communicate issues promptly to managers, detailers, and the project team.
