Job summary

Thomson Medical invites applications for an experienced lactation consultant to provide evidence-based breastfeeding education and expert support for mothers and families in our maternity services.

The role requires registration with the Singapore Nursing Board, IBCLC certification, and 1–2 years post-registration experience in maternity or lactation services. You will educate parents, document consultations, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to promote safe breastfeeding outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Delivers lactation care and parentcraft education to mothers and families.
• Maintains accurate documentation of consultations and education provided.

• Collaborates with multidisciplinary team to support breastfeeding goals.
• Assists with infant care guidance and management of common breastfeeding issues.
• Escalates complex cases to the team as needed.

Job Summary

Primarily responsible for providing evidence-based breastfeeding education, consultation,to mothers,and supporting mothers and families to achieve successful breastfeeding outcomes. She also ensures compliance with the hospital's quality standards, policies, and clinical procedures.

Job Responsibilities

1. Core Skills

• Delivers safe, evidence-based lactation care and parentcraft education.
• Meets department KPIs.
• Complies with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and compliance with the hospital's policies.

2. Parent Craft Education Programs

• Provides breastfeeding support and consultation for mothers and families.
• Teaches newborn care and parenting skills to parents.
• Conducts Infant care training for parents and caregivers.
• Maintains accurate documentation of consultation and education provided.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

• Manages mothers with breast engorgement, plugged ducts and mastitis.
• Supports informed infant feeding decisions and breastfeeding.
• Identifies and manages common breastfeeding problems.
• Escalates complex cases and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team.
• Demonstrates competency in alternative feeding methods (cup, syringe, Supplemental Nursing System).
• Recognises and responds appropriately to neonatal emergencies.

Job Requirements

• Registered Nurse with the Singapore Nursing Board
• International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
• Minimum 1-2 years' of Post-registration nursingexperience in a maternity setting or lactation services
