Universal Robina Corporation (URC) is seeking a Specialist, Microbiology at its GF Global Innovations Center in Pasig. The role focuses on testing, calibration, and method development within an ISO-aligned lab.

The successful candidate will handle sample management, report generation, and staff training, while ensuring safe practices, proper documentation, and compliance with URC LMS and governance processes.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Proficient in oral and written communication.
• Computer literate, hardworking, and proactive.
• Team player with ability to work with minimum supervision.
• Graduate of B.S. Microbiology or B.S. Biology (Microbiology).
• Preferably registered microbiologist or professional food technologist.
• Preferably graduate of B.S. Engineering or related science.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing and calibration as defined in the lab's service portfolio and methods.
• Conducts technical assistance service (e.g., special tests, audit, training).
• Generates and releases test reports to customers.
• Handles test samples and calibration items from receipt to disposal.
• Prepares culture media and reagents needed for analysis.
• Performs method development, validation, and verification of test and calibration methods.
• Maintains documentation and technical records.
• Calibrates and verifies equipment (e.g., pH meters, weighing devices).
• Monitors inventory, equipment maintenance, and lab environment.
• Participates in interlaboratory comparisons and proficiency testing.
• Trains new laboratory staff and provides feedback for evaluation.
• Adheres to safe lab practices and housekeeping; supports URC LMS governance.
• Reports concerns to the Section Head for proper spending and target achievement.
• Follows company policies and procedures; performs other tasks as assigned.

Universal Robina Corporation is looking for a Specialist, Microbiology .

What are the roles and responsibilities:

• Performs testing and calibration as defined in the matrix of the laboratory's service portfolio and methods
• Conducts technical assistance service (e.g. special tests, audit, training).
• Generates and releases test reports customers.
• Handles test samples and calibration items from receiving, preparation, storage, until disposal.
• Prepares culture media and/or reagents needed for the analysis.
• Performs method development, validation, and/or verification of test and calibration methods
• Safe keeps, updates, and maintains documented information, including technical records and test or calibration methods.
• Conducts calibration and verification of equipment (e.g. weighing devices, pH meters, temperature enclosures).
• Monitors supplies inventory, equipment maintenance and performance, and the laboratory's environmental condition.
• Participates in interlaboratory comparison, proficiency testing programs, and/or measurement audits.
• Trains new laboratory specialist and provides feedback for assessment and evaluation
• Adheres with safe laboratory practices and good housekeeping measures in performing the function.
• Ensures conformance to ISO/IEC 17025 and other mandatory requirements and related systems. Provides support for the governance and implementation of URC's LMS.
• Reports any concern affecting the operation execution to the Section Head to ensure reasonable spending and implementation of committed services and programs, achieving the set targets.li>Abide by the company policies and documented procedures.
• Does other tasks or function assign by the Section Head or the Central Laboratory Group Manager

What are the Qualifications:

• Must be of good moral character.
• A graduate of B.S. Microbiology, B.S. Biology (major in Microbiology), or related course
• Preferably, a registered microbiologist or professional food technologist
• Preferably, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related science and technology course
