Job summary

Bombardier Transportation GmbH is hiring a Senior Specialist in Engineering, Stress, to perform structural analysis on metallic and non-metallic aircraft components. You will prepare formal documentation and present design reviews for suppliers and customers.

The role requires a Bachelor of Engineering, 10+ years of stress engineering experience, and strong proficiency in FEM tools, CATIA V5, and Siemens NX. Excellent English communication and the ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant stress engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in FEM tools (Patran, Nastran, Nasgro, Altair, HyperMesh).
  • Proficiency with CATIA V5 and Siemens NX.
  • Understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and certification procedures.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Strong English communication (written and spoken).
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis using classical hand analysis methods and finite element analysis on metallic and non-metallic structures.
  • Understand customer requirements and prepare formal, controlled engineering documentation (e.g., structural analysis reports, specifications).
  • Prepare and present design review material for technical meetings with suppliers and customers.
  • Review designs for preliminary sizing of structural reinforcements and load path definitions for structural modifications.
  • Support design process from preliminary through detail design.
  • Write, review, or approve structural substantiation reports meeting program and certifying authority requirements (TCCA/FAA/EASA).
  • Assess primary and secondary structures and flight test installations from a static strength perspective.
  • Perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments based on mission profiles.
  • MRB duties in support of operations.

What are your contributions to the team?

  • Write, Review or Approve structural substantiation reports that meet technical requirements for the program and certifying authorities (TCCA/FAA/EASA…)
  • Assess primary structure, secondary structure, and flight test installations from a static strength perspective
  • Perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments based on customer’s mission profile requirements
  • Perform Material Review Board (MRB) duties in support of operations activities
How to thrive in this role?
  • You must have a Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
  • You have Minimum of 10 years of relevant stress engineering experience.
  • You have proficiency in FEM tools (i.e. Patran, Nastran, Nasgro, Altair, Hypermesh).
  • You have proficiency with all Microsoft Office software.
  • You have proficiency with CATIA V5 and Siemens NX.
  • You have understanding of civil aircraft certification rules and experience in certification procedures.
  • You have excellent communication and listening skills.
  • You have strong communication skills in English (written, spoken).
  • You are able to work independently and efficiently multitask.
  • You must have a good understanding of aircraft structural load path and have experience with analysis methodologies for various primary and secondary structural components.
  • MRB is an asset.
  • Experience in an integration role or function is an asset.
