Job summary

Shell is seeking a Credit Specialist to balance business growth with risk management within its Lubricants portfolio in the Philippines. You will assess credit risk, analyze customer financials, and determine credit limits to enable growth while protecting value.

You’ll partner with Sales and other teams, monitor exposures, and apply Shell’s credit policies. This role emphasizes data-driven decision making, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in credit risk assessment, financial analysis, or a related finance function.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and evaluating customer creditworthiness.
  • Background in banking, financial services, or credit risk management is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by conducting commercial and financial analysis and determine appropriate credit risk ratings and credit limits.
  • Partner with customers and internal stakeholders to identify and implement risk mitigation strategies, including negotiating and managing credit security arrangements where required.
  • Monitor and review customer credit exposures, performing regular reassessments based on established timelines and changing business conditions.
  • Support business continuity by proactively managing account reviews, resolving blocked sales orders, and addressing exposures that exceed approved credit limits.
  • Exercise credit approval authority within designated limits, including reviewing and releasing blocked orders when appropriate.
  • Provide insights and recommendations that help the business make balanced decisions between commercial opportunities and credit risk exposure.

What’s the role

We are looking for a commercially minded professional who thrives on balancing business growth with smart risk management. In this role, you will partner closely with the Lubricants business to support sustainable growth, identify opportunities, and make sound credit decisions that help maximize value while managing risk effectively. As a Credit Specialist, you will manage a customer portfolio enabling business growth through informed credit decisions. While your primary focus will be the Lubricants portfolio, you will also have opportunities to support other business areas as needs evolve, providing broad exposure across the organization.

What you’ll be doing

As part of our Credit Risk Assessment Team, you will play a key role in supporting Shell's Lubricants business by evaluating customer credit risk, managing credit exposures, and enabling informed business decisions. You will help balance growth opportunities with sound risk management while ensuring compliance with Shell's credit policies.

In this role, you'll work closely with colleagues across different functions and cultures, helping the business make informed credit decisions while building and maintaining strong customer relationships. You'll be confident in making sound risk-based decisions, addressing complex credit challenges, and driving positive business outcomes.

Financial Analysis & Credit Risk Expertise
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in credit risk assessment, financial analysis, or a related finance function.

Digital & Analytical Skills

Comfortable using digital tools, systems, and emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to support credit assessments and decision-making. Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and present data-driven insights that support business decisions.

Business Partnership & Stakeholder Management

Commercially minded professional who can effectively partner with Sales and other business teams on credit-related matters. Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to discuss sensitive topics such as credit risk exposure, credit limits, and customer financial performance while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.

Continuous Improvement Mindset

Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying process improvements and driving efficiencies. Embraces innovation and digital solutions to enhance ways of working and improve team performance.

Flexibility

Open to working in a project-based role and adapting to evolving business needs and priorities.
