Job summary

Ascendion is seeking a Solutions Architect with hands-on Apple Pay experience to design and deliver enterprise technology solutions. The role requires leading Apple Pay integrations and ensuring scalable, secure architectures across digital platforms and payment ecosystems.

You will translate complex requirements into architecture diagrams, API specs, and implementation plans while collaborating with Product Managers, Engineering, Security, and Infrastructure teams to drive successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, or similar architecture-focused role.
• Mandatory: Hands-on Apple Pay experience.
• Experience delivering Apple Pay integration or features within digital products or payment platforms.
• Strong understanding of payment integrations, digital wallets, and related patterns.
• Experience with REST APIs, web services, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms, microservices, and secure integration practices.

Job description

We are looking for a Solutions Architect with strong experience in designing and delivering enterprise technology solutions, with hands-on experience working with Apple Pay as a non-negotiable requirement.

The ideal candidate has previously worked on an Apple Pay integration, implementation, payment solution, or feature, and understands the technical and architectural considerations involved in integrating Apple Pay into digital platforms and payment ecosystems. Beyond Apple Pay, the role will be responsible for the end-to-end architecture of scalable, secure, and reliable enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and define end-to-end solution architectures aligned with business requirements, technical standards, security policies, and enterprise architecture principles.
• Lead or contribute to solutions involving Apple Pay, including previous experience integrating, implementing, enhancing, or supporting Apple Pay-related features or payment capabilities.
• Translate business and functional requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Develop architecture diagrams, technical designs, integration patterns, API specifications, and other solution architecture documentation.
• Evaluate existing applications and systems and recommend architectural improvements, modernization strategies, and technology solutions.
• Define integration approaches across applications, APIs, databases, third-party platforms, cloud services, and enterprise systems.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Business Analysts, Engineering teams, Developers, QA, Security, Infrastructure, and other stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, ensuring solutions are implemented according to the approved architecture and technical standards.
• Assess technology options and provide recommendations based on scalability, performance, security, maintainability, cost, and business value.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, constraints, and potential architecture issues and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Ensure solutions comply with security, privacy, regulatory, and enterprise technology requirements, particularly for payment-related capabilities.
• Support technical discussions, architecture reviews, design walkthroughs, and stakeholder presentations.
• Provide guidance during development, testing, deployment, and production implementation to ensure alignment with the intended solution architecture.
• Contribute to architectural standards, reusable design patterns, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a Solutions Architect, Technical Architect, Application Architect, or similar architecture-focused role.
• Mandatory: Previous hands-on experience working with Apple Pay.
• Experience delivering an Apple Pay integration, implementation, feature, or project within a digital product, mobile application, payment platform, banking/financial services environment, or similar ecosystem.
• Strong understanding of payment integrations, digital wallets, payment processing, and related integration patterns.
• Strong experience with REST APIs, web services, system integrations, and enterprise application architecture.
• Experience designing solutions across multiple systems, applications, services, and third-party platforms.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, DevOps, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, databases, and enterprise integration technologies.
• Strong understanding of application security, data protection, authentication, authorization, and secure integration practices.
• Ability to create and communicate architecture diagrams, technical designs, and solution documentation.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience within banking, fintech, payments, e-commerce, or financial services environments.
• Experience with other digital wallet or payment technologies such as Google Pay or similar payment platforms.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Knowledge of API gateways, event-driven architecture, messaging, microservices, and integration platforms.
• Experience working with security, compliance, and payment-related standards and requirements.
• Relevant architecture, cloud, or technology certifications are a plus.

Key Requirement

Apple Pay experience is mandatory. Candidates without prior hands-on experience working on an Apple Pay integration, implementation, project, or feature will not be considered.
