Job summary

Umpisa Inc. is seeking a senior Solutions Architect to own end-to-end solution architecture for complex projects. You will lead discovery, define tech stacks, and produce SARs, ADRs, and roadmaps while guiding engineering and delivery teams. Travel for Singapore and Manila training is expected.

You will mentor teams, drive modern architecture patterns, and ensure security, data privacy, and governance are embedded in designs and implementations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 8–10 years in software engineering with 3–5 years in a Solutions Architect or similar leadership role.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-grade cloud-based and on-premise architectures.
• Knowledge of TOGAF, microservices, event-driven and domain-driven design.
• Hands-on with at least one major cloud platform; multi-cloud is a plus.
• Strong API design, integration, data architecture, and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
• Security, data privacy and compliance considerations in design.
• Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical teams.
• Excellent stakeholder communication, including C-level interactions.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end solution architectures meeting business, technical, security, and scalability needs.
• Lead architectural discovery and recommend stack, platforms and tools.
• Translate requirements into detailed designs, diagrams, and integration blueprints.
• Enforce architectural standards and design patterns across teams.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineering, QA and infra teams.
• Identify and mitigate risks, including performance and security concerns.
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders on scope and budget.
• Review designs and ensure adherence to architectural direction and quality.
• Drive adoption of cloud services and modern patterns (microservices, serverless).
• Support pre-sales with technical proposals and architecture presentations.
• Ensure compliance with governance, security, and data privacy requirements.
• Lead KT sessions and training for teams and clients, including travel.

Work Set-up:

• Hybrid set-up
• October: On‑site training in Singapore (travel provision included).

Job Summary:

• He/she shall be responsible for the end‑to‑end technical solution architecture of assigned projects and shall also be responsible in the preparation of the following deliverables, in connection with assigned project:
• Solution Architecture Document (SAD)
• Technical Design and Integration Specifications
• Architecture Decision Records (ADRs)
• Non‑Functional Requirements (NFR) and Capacity/Scalability Plan
• Technology Roadmap and Migration Plan (When applicable)

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Design end‑to‑end solution architectures that meet business, technical, security, and scalability requirements
• Lead architectural discovery, evaluate technology options, and recommend the optimal stack, platforms, and tools for each engagement.
• Translate business and functional requirements into detailed technical designs, system diagrams, and integration blueprints.
• Define and enforce architectural standards, design patterns, and best practices across development teams.
• Provide technical leadership and hands‑on guidance to development, QA, and infrastructure teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate architectural and technical risks, including performance, security, and scalability concerns.
• Collaborate with Delivery Managers, Product Owners, and stakeholders to align solution architecture with project scope, timeline, and budget.
• Review code, designs, and technical deliverables to ensure adherence to architectural direction and quality standards.
• Drive the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, cloud services, and modern architecture patterns (e.g., microservices, event‑driven, serverless).
• Support pre‑sales and solutioning activities, including technical proposals, estimations, and architecture presentations to clients.
• Ensure solutions comply with organizational standards, governance, security, and data privacy requirements.
• Facilitate architecture review boards, design workshops, and technical stakeholder communications as required.
• Conduct Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and training for engineering teams and stakeholders, including during the Singapore (October) and Manila (November–December) training engagements.
• Develop and deliver technical training materials, architecture guides, and documentation to support upskilling and smooth knowledge handover.
• Support continuous improvement of architecture practices, tooling, and delivery processes across the organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8–10 years of experience in software engineering, with a minimum of 3–5 years in a Solutions Architect or comparable technical leadership role.
• Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise‑grade, cloud‑based, and/or on‑premise solution architectures.
• Strong knowledge of architecture frameworks and principles (e.g., TOGAF, microservices, event‑driven architecture, domain‑driven design).
• Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform); multi‑cloud experience is an advantage.
• Solid understanding of API design, system integration patterns, data architecture, and DevOps/CI‑CD practices.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of application security, data privacy, and compliance considerations in solution design.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams and mentor engineers on architecture and design best practices.
• Experience preparing and maintaining architecture documentation, including solution designs, ADRs, and technical roadmaps.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both technical and business audiences, including C‑level stakeholders.
• Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.
• Familiarity and relevant experience with the insurance industry
• Prior experience conducting Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions, training, or facilitation for teams and/or clients is highly preferred.
• Willingness and availability to travel to Singapore for training in October, and to continue training in Manila from November to December.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, TOGAF, or equivalent are highly preferred.
