Responsibilities

What You Will Do as a Solar PV Installation Technician

As a Solar PV Installation Technician, your mission is to install, commission, and maintain solar photovoltaic systems in line with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, and health and safety standards. You will support the successful execution of solar projects by ensuring high-quality installation, safe fieldwork, proper testing, and reliable system performance.

You Will Be Handling These Duties and Responsibilities as a Solar PV Installation Technician

• Install solar PV mounting structures on rooftops and ground-mounted systems.
• Install solar panels, inverters, batteries, combiner boxes, protection panels, and circuit breakers according to approved designs.
• Carry out DC and AC cable routing, wiring, termination, grounding, and lightning protection works.
• Perform electrical inspections, pre-commissioning checks, voltage measurements, current measurements, and continuity testing.
• Participate in system commissioning and initial start-up activities.
• Verify that system performance matches the approved design specifications.
• Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance for solar PV systems.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults and replace damaged or defective components.
• Clean solar PV modules when required and maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in good condition.
• Follow HSE procedures, use PPE properly, and work safely on rooftops and elevated areas.
• Prepare daily progress reports, maintenance reports, material records, and technical observations for the supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills That Will Allow You to Thrive

• Diploma or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in solar PV system installation.
• Proven experience with On-Grid, Off-Grid, and Hybrid Solar PV systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Good knowledge of electrical wiring, cable routing, termination, grounding, and protection systems.
• Experience installing and connecting PV modules, inverters, batteries, and related solar system components.
• Proficiency in using electrical testing and measuring instruments.
• Strong troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Good teamwork, discipline, punctuality, attention to detail, and communication skills.
• Physically fit to work outdoors, handle equipment safely, and work at heights.
• HSE, Working at Heights, First Aid, or Solar PV Installation certificates are preferred.
• Valid driving license is preferred.
