We are seeking a collaborative, detail-driven SMSF Accountant to join our team. The SMSF Accountant works onsite in Clark, delivering high-quality financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and client reporting for accounting firms across Australia. This role suits a detail-driven accounting professional looking to deepen their technical expertise in a structured, growth-focused environment.
Bookkeeping & Reconciliation: Handle data entry via Receipt Bank, bank reconciliations, payroll processing, and management reporting to keep client books accurate and current.
Financial Statements & Returns: Prepare special purpose financial statements and income tax returns for sole traders, individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies from source documents.
Compliance & Regulatory Reporting: Prepare BAS, FBT, and payroll tax returns accurately and in line with Australian regulatory requirements.
Client Correspondence & Review: Draft professional client-facing emails and covering letters, and address Manager and Director review points with precise, timely amendments.
Forecasting & Tax Planning: Compile financial data, prepare cash flow and P&L forecasts, and contribute well-considered tax planning recommendations for Manager approval.
Budget & KPI Management: Manage fee budgets, complete jobs within allocated hours and deadlines, and fulfil administrative tasks including timesheets and billing preparation.
Accounting Credentials & Experience: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with at least 1-2 years\' experience in SMSF and public practice accounting.
SMSF & Australian Tax Knowledge: Solid understanding of SMSF compliance, financial statement preparation, and Australian tax obligations including BAS, FBT, and payroll tax.
Multi-Entity Preparation Skills: Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and tax returns across sole traders, individuals, partnerships, trusts, and companies.
Accounting Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with MYOB Essentials, AccountRight Live, and/or Xero, with the ability to adapt quickly to new platforms.
Communication & Collaboration: Strong written communication skills and a collaborative attitude, with the ability to produce client-ready correspondence and support a high-performing team.
