Job summary

AboitizPower is seeking a Smart Metering Specialist to lead end-to-end Smart Metering Cycle Execution, Data Management, Cybersecurity, and software/firmware upgrades, partnering with Energy Solutions and Services to deliver reliable, secure metering services.

You will install, commission, and maintain meters, analyze data, troubleshoot communications, support customers and internal teams, and train field staff while staying compliant with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• 2–3 years experience in smart metering, IoT, SCADA, or automation.
• Licensed engineer preferred; valid driver’s license is a must.

Responsibilities

• Sell and implement smart metering solutions and services.
• Install, commission, and maintain meters at customer sites.
• Manage and analyze data from smart meters for accuracy.
• Configure communication modules and troubleshoot data transmission.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.

As Smart Metering - Specialist, you will be responsible for end-to-end Smart Metering Cycle Execution, Data Management, Cybersecurity, and Software/Firmware Upgrades and contribute directly to transforming energy for a better world. You will work closely with Energy Solutions and Services to deliver results, create positive community impact, and develop your skills in a supportive, purpose-driven environment.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Selling and offering smart metering solutions and services
• Install, commission, and maintain smart meters at customer locations.
• Manage and analyze data from smart meters, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Configure and troubleshoot communication modules for seamless data transmission.
• Provide technical support to customers and internal teams on smart metering systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams for system integration with existing infrastructure.
• Conduct testing and validation to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to safeguard smart metering data.
• Perform software and firmware upgrades on smart meters.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for smart metering systems.
• Provide training sessions for field technicians and customer support teams.
• Stay updated on industry regulations and standards for regulatory compliance.
• Working directly with the sales team for different customer segments to map out customer solutions insights and opportunities
• Identify and assess Smart Metering, IoT, Automation, and SCADA technologies for potential application in our target customer base.
• Visit existing facilities to evaluate the practicality and feasibility of implementing these technologies.

To Succeed in this Role, we need someone who:

• Broad understanding of the power industry
• Conversant to technical topics pertaining to relevant standards (IEC and ANSI), switchyard, substation equipment, metering, protection relaying, and SCADA
• Conversant to technical topics pertaining to Energy Mangement Systems, communication protocols, data management, cybersecurity protocols, and system integration.
• Knowledge of industry regulations and standards governing smart metering.

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or equivalent engineering discipline)

Professional: At least 2-3 years experience in smart metering, Internet-of-Things (IoT), SCADA, Automation, or other related fields.

Leadership: None required

Project: 1-2 years experience in project execution, management

Technical / Functional Skills:

License Required: Licensed Engineer, preferred. LTO Driver’s license is a must
