About the role

Lola Cafe is seeking a dynamic and organised Shift Manager to join our team in San Juan City, Metro Manila. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth daily operations and delivering exceptional customer experiences during your shift. As Shift Manager, you will be responsible for leading our cafe team, maintaining service standards, and driving operational excellence. This role is integral to maintaining the high-quality service and welcoming atmosphere that Lola Cafe is known for.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all cafe operations during your assigned shift, including customer service, food and beverage preparation, and stock management
• Lead, supervise and motivate team members, ensuring they deliver consistent service standards and adhere to company policies
• Train new staff members and provide ongoing coaching to develop team capabilities and performance
• Monitor cash handling, process transactions accurately, and reconcile registers at the end of shift
• Ensure health, safety and hygiene standards are met throughout the cafe, including food safety compliance
• Manage inventory levels, place orders when necessary, and minimise waste
• Handle customer complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly to maintain customer satisfaction
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe environment, including kitchen and service areas
• Report on shift activities and elevate concerns to senior management when required
• Ensure compliance with all company procedures, local regulations and licensing requirements

What we're looking for

• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within the hospitality or cafe industry, preferably 2+ years in a similar position
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team effectively
• Excellent customer service orientation and proven ability to handle challenging situations with professionalism
• Knowledge of food and beverage operations, including inventory management and food safety practices
• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic financial management
• Outstanding organisational and multitasking abilities, capable of working efficiently during peak service hours
• Strong communication skills in English and Filipino; additional languages are advantageous
• Flexibility to work shifts, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends as required
• High school diploma or equivalent; hospitality management certification or training is preferred
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment
