About the role
This role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, and commissioning of generator sets and related equipment. You will provide onsite technical support to customers, prepare detailed service and inspection reports, and ensure all work complies with safety and industry standards.
Key responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Preventive Maintenance and Inspection
Perform preventive maintenance services (PMS) on generator sets and related equipment according to company and manufacturer standards.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify mechanical, electrical, and operational issues.
- Check and maintain engine, alternator, control panels, batteries, cooling systems, fuel systems, and auxiliary equipment.
- Prepare maintenance reports and recommend corrective actions when required.
2. Troubleshooting and Repair
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system faults on generator sets.
- Perform corrective maintenance and emergency repairs to restore equipment operation.
- Replace defective components and ensure proper testing after repairs.
- Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
3. Installation, Testing, and Commissioning
- Assist in the delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of generator sets and related equipment.
- Verify compliance with technical specifications and site requirements prior to commissioning.
- Perform load bank testing, system checks, and operational verification.
- Ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently before turnover to customers.
4. Customer Service and Technical Support
- Provide onsite technical support and service assistance to customers.
- Explain maintenance findings, repair recommendations, and operational requirements to customers.
- Respond promptly to service calls, breakdowns, and emergency situations.
- Maintain professional customer relationships and represent the company positively during field assignments.
5. Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare service reports, inspection reports, commissioning reports, and job completion reports.
- Document parts used, labor hours, findings, and recommendations after every service activity.
- Submit daily and weekly accomplishment reports to the Service Supervisor or Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of service history and maintenance activities.
6. Safety and Compliance
- Adhere to company safety regulations and industry standards during all field and workshop activities.
- Properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety tools.
- Ensure service activities comply with environmental and workplace safety requirements.
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents immediately.
7. Parts and Tools Management
- Ensure proper handling and safekeeping of company tools, instruments, and service equipment.
- Monitor and report requirements for spare parts and consumables.
- Assist in inventory verification and proper storage of service materials.
Graduate of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, Automotive Technology, Industrial Technology, or related technical course.
- At least 2 years experience in generator set servicing, diesel engines, industrial equipment maintenance, or related field service work.
- Knowledge of diesel engines, alternators, control panels, Synchronization, ATS systems, and power generation equipment.
- Ability to read electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and commissioning of generator sets.
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety procedures.
- Ability to work in field environments and travel to customer sites as required.
- Physically fit and capable of performing field service activities.
- Possesses strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- With valid driver's license (preferred).
