Job summary

Avalara is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to support and scale Workday development and enterprise system integrations.

You will drive high-quality engineering outcomes across Workday development, integrations, automation, and related initiatives to maintain performance and reliability. Collaboration with product, finance, tax technology, and engineering teams is essential to delivering business-critical outcomes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
Experience with enterprise software development and system integrations is preferred.
Strong understanding of software engineering practices and tools.

Responsibilities

Own and deliver Workday development, integrations, enhancements, and related engineering work with a focus on reliability, scalability, maintainability, and business impact.
Contribute to high-priority engineering initiatives including AvaTax development, ELR readiness through planned SRR/ARB work, AP cutover support for Canada and the USA, and automation testing for new and existing features.
Reduce backlog by delivering high-impact engineering work with strong prioritization, execution discipline, and ownership from requirements through production support.
Improve system performance, stability, observability, and maintainability across Workday and related enterprise platforms.
Build and improve automation capabilities to reduce manual effort, improve testing coverage, accelerate delivery, and reduce operational risk.
