Job summary

Emerson is seeking a General Ledger professional who will process GL transactions, including reporting and reconciliation, as well as fixed asset transactions and audits. You will collaborate with internal and external customers and help identify operational improvements to deliver excellent financial services.

The role emphasizes accuracy, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication across teams to support GAAP compliance and robust internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or related field.
• 4.5 years of relevant experience in general accounting, focusing on GL, bank and balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, and audit support.
• Solid understanding of internal controls and GAAP.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Oracle and SAP.

Responsibilities

• Perform bank reconciliations to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy.
• Validate cash transactions, identify discrepancies, and resolve reconciling items.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and analyst transactions for accuracy.
• Generate reports and analyze accounts to prevent misstatements before finalizing financials.
• Maintain audit trails and post journal entries to adjust balances.
• Handle fixed assets accounting including recognition, depreciation, retirement, transfer and write-offs.
• Create/update process documentation and deliver training as needed.
• Apply internal controls per CP&P and GAAP.

If you are a General Ledger professional looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this role offers the chance to process general ledger transactions, including reporting and reconciliation, fixed asset transactions, and financial reviews, and will serve as a focal point of contact for audits. You will collaborate with internal and external customers and help identify operational improvements to provide excellent financial services.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

• Perform a bank reconciliation to protect the organization's assets.
• Validate the accuracy of cash transactions, verify discrepancies, and resolve reconciling transactions.
• Perform Balance Sheet Account Reconciliation and analyze transactions to validate accuracy through vouching for source details.
• Generate reports and perform analysis of accounts to resolve potential mis recording of transactions prior to finalization of financials.
• Maintain audit trail of supporting documents for audit requirements and post Journal entries to restate account balances.
• Perform Fixed Assets Accounting, asset recognition, depreciation, retirement, transfer, and write-off.
• Conduct training and prepare or update process documentation to capture improvements.
• Apply appropriate internal controls in compliance with Corporate Policies and Procedures (CP&P) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

For This Role, You Will Need:

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or any Accounting-related field.
• 4.5 years of relevant experience in general accounting, majority of which should be in General Ledger performing bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, fixed assets, and audit support.
• Solid understanding of internal control and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications, preferably in Oracle and SAP.
