Job summary

SciTec is seeking a Sr Staff/Senior Software Engineer to support Missile Defense Solution software in an operational setting. You will handle end-to-end software processing of OPIR sensor data, focusing on on-site customer support, troubleshooting, and system optimization.

The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of software engineering, strong Linux experience, and the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
3+ years of professional experience working in Linux environments.
Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high-quality code.
Demonstrated performance optimization skills for data-intensive or compute-intensive systems.
Ability to work onsite in-person at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado.
Effective communication skills and attention to detail.
An active TS/SCI DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Support the availability, reliability, and performance of operational services supporting critical mission systems.
Monitor health of software infrastructure using metrics, logs, and alerts; respond to incidents; maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
Perform root-cause analysis for infrastructure and service outages; implement corrective and preventative actions; participate in post-incident reviews.
Improve system reliability through automation, standardization, and proactive engineering.
Support software system lifecycle activities including upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing software systems.
Apply strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance trade-offs.
Support integration, testing, and debugging in Linux environments.
Support documentation, knowledge sharing, training, and clear communication across the organization.
Perform other duties as assigned.
