Job summary

TOA Global is seeking a Senior SMSF Accountant to lead SMSF financial statements, tax returns, and compliance for Australian partners. You will mentor junior accountants, oversee workflows, and ensure audit-ready documentation under SIS Act and ATO requirements.

You will navigate complex fund dynamics, including pension commencements, contributions, and diverse investment portfolios, maintaining high standards and cross-border collaboration.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years SMSF accounting experience.
• Experience reviewing complex fund files from start to finish.
• Expert SMSF legislation knowledge (SIS Act, ATO requirements).
• Proficient in Class Super or BGL (Simple Fund 360).

Responsibilities

• Guardian of Technical Excellence: lead SMSF financial statements, tax returns, and compliance docs to audit-ready standards.
• Strategic Mentor & Leader: develop intermediate SMSF accountants; supervise workflows and guide teams.
• Audit & Liaison Specialist: liaise with auditors and translate regulatory shifts for clients.
• Master of Complex Fund Dynamics: manage pension commencements, contributions, and diverse portfolios with integrity.

As a Senior SMSF Accountant, you are the technical vanguard of the Self-Managed Superannuation Fund sector. Your Impact

• Guardian of Technical Excellence: Lead the preparation and high-level review of SMSF financial statements, tax returns, and compliance documentation. Ensure that every file-regardless of portfolio complexity-is "audit-ready" and aligned with current legislation.
• Strategic Mentor & Leader: Take ownership of the development of intermediate SMSF accountants. Supervise workflows, provide technical guidance, and foster a culture of precision and continuous learning.
• Audit & Liaison Specialist: Act as the primary point of contact for auditors to finalize compliance reviews. Provide high-level technical support to Australian client managers, translating regulatory shifts into actionable insights.
• Master of Complex Fund Dynamics: Navigate sophisticated aspects of SMSF accounting, including intricate pension commencements, varied contribution types, and diverse investment portfolios with total integrity.

What You Bring

• The Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of dedicated SMSF accounting experience within an Australian accounting firm. You have a proven track record of managing and reviewing complex fund files from start to finish.
• Technical Mastery: In-depth, expert-level knowledge of SMSF legislation, the SIS Act, and current ATO requirements.
• The Toolkit: Advanced proficiency in industry-leading SMSF administration software, specifically Class Super or BGL (Simple Fund 360).
• Leadership Prowess: Strong review and supervisory skills with the ability to provide constructive feedback. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to handle high-pressure deadlines with ease.
