Job summary

8x8 is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to own platform reliability across our global UC infrastructure and drive incident response. You will lead the reliability strategy, perform blameless post-mortems, and sign off on corrective actions while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

You will mentor engineers, build automation to reduce toil, and develop dashboards and SLIs/SLOs to guide reliability investments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a site reliability, platform operations, or infrastructure engineering role.
• Mastery of Linux systems administration for multi-service distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (OCI, AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong on-call experience with calm under pressure and clear incident communication.
• Scripting in Python or Bash to automate tasks and parse logs.
• Solid incident response discipline and post-mortem follow-through.
• Knowledge of SRE concepts: SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, toil measurement.
• Demonstrated technical leadership and mentoring of engineers.
• AI-forward mindset and comfort using AI tooling to improve reliability.

Responsibilities

• Own platform reliability across global UC infrastructure and drive incident response.
• Lead the reliability strategy for your subsystem and escalate when frontline teams reach limits.
• Execute maintenance, certificate renewals, log rotation and drive process improvements to prevent failures.
• Lead blameless post-mortems and sign off on corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Support, Sales, NOC, Professional Services, and Engineering to translate incidents into actionable improvements.
• Develop dashboards and alerts, align automation with engineering goals, and contribute to architectural roadmaps.
• Provide technical leadership on projects, mentor junior engineers, and lead knowledge-sharing activities.
• Own on-call rotations, escalation, and drive incident response efficiency with tooling.
