Job summary

8x8 is seeking a senior Reliability Engineer to own platform reliability across global UC infrastructure and lead incident response. You will drive blameless post-mortems, automate toil, and shape the reliability strategy for your subsystem.

Collaborate with Support, NOC, and Engineering to translate incidents into bug reports and architectural improvements. Expect direct mentorship of junior engineers, involvement in 2-week sprint cycles for automation, runbook development, and infrastructure

Qualifications

• 6+ years in site reliability, platform operations, or infra engineering.
• Mastery of Linux systems administration and multi-service distributed systems.
• Strong on-call experience with calm under pressure and clear incident communication.
• Hands-on experience with major cloud providers (OCI, AWS, GCP or Azure).
• Scripting in Python or Bash to automate tasks and refactor tooling.
• Familiarity with SRE concepts: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, toil.

Responsibilities

• Own platform reliability across global UC infrastructure and incident response.
• Lead blameless post-mortems with corrective actions.
• Automate toil and build tooling to reduce manual work.
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs; drive data-driven reliability decisions.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers.
• Develop runbooks and participate in structured backlog-driven automation.
