Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced State & Local Tax (SALT) professional to provide strategic tax advisory and compliance services. The role involves analysing state and local tax laws, leading multistate tax compliance projects, identifying tax optimization opportunities, and managing client engagements while mentoring team members and driving high-quality project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret state and local tax laws and regulations to provide strategic guidance to clients
- Lead multistate tax compliance and local tax optimization engagements
- Prepare and review state income/franchise tax returns, estimated tax calculations, extensions, and workpapers.
- Research and resolve complex state and local tax issues involving nexus, apportionment, allocation, sourcing, throwback/throw-out rules, and taxability.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to improve compliance and optimize client tax positions
- Conduct state tax planning, tax controversy support, reverse audits, and payroll tax efficiency reviews.
- Identify tax-saving opportunities through analytical review and tax policy evaluation.
- Manage multiple client engagements while ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to meet project objectives and client expectations.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication and problem-solving.
- Mentor, coach, and review the work of junior team members, fostering technical and professional development.
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in tax processes and service delivery.
- Stay current with changes in state and local tax legislation and communicate their impact to clients and internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with professional standards, firm policies, ethics, confidentiality, and independence requirements.
- Should be flexible to learn federal and open for cross skill
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline (Master’s in Commerce or Taxation preferred).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in State & Local Tax (SALT) or Multistate Tax.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated experience managing client engagements and leading project teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active US CPA, Enrolled Agent (EA), or equivalent professional credential.
- Experience with multistate tax compliance and consulting engagements.
- Knowledge of state income/franchise tax regulations.
- Familiarity with tax research databases and compliance software.
