About the role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the cost, commercial, and contractual aspects of construction projects from pre-contract estimating and tendering through construction, project close-out, and final account settlement. The position ensures accurate cost control, effective budget management, proper valuation of works, and compliance with contractual requirements. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will also provide technical and commercial guidance to Quantity Surveyors, Estimators, Project Engineers, and other members of the project team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and project budgets
• Review architectural, structural, MEPF, and other construction drawings and specifications
• Perform quantity take-offs and verify quantities
• Prepare detailed material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates
• Monitor project expenditures against the approved budget and contract amount
• Prepare and maintain cost reports, cost-to-complete reports, and cash-flow projections
• Identify, quantify, and price Variation Orders (VOs) and change orders
• Review construction contracts, specifications, drawings, and commercial provisions
• Supervise and mentor Quantity Surveyors, Estimators, and Junior Staff
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, Architects, Site Supervisors, Procurement, Accounting, and subcontractors

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Architecture, or a related field
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, construction estimating, cost control, or contract administration
• Demonstrated experience handling medium to large scale construction projects
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, specifications, and construction measurements
• Experience in preparing BOQs, detailed estimates, progress billings, variation orders, and final accounts
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial terms
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other estimating/cost-control software
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and other construction drawings
