Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior QA Engineer in Metro Manila to balance manual and exploratory testing with automation, API and mobile testing, and performance engineering. You will upskill the team, coordinate with product and operations, and drive quality gates and release readiness.

The role requires strong testing experience in Agile settings and a proactive, collaborative mindset. Candidate must be willing to work at Giga Tower, QC, on a night shift.

Qualifications

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior QA Engineer who can balance a sharp analytical mindset for manual/exploratory testing with the technical depth needed for automation, API testing, mobile app testing, and performance engineering.

He/ She will be responsible for upskilling the team on below aspects along with regularly interacting with stakeholders to create a pathway to expand our scope of support in this domain.

Key Responsibilities:

Manual & Exploratory Testing

• Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing on complex applications.
• Identify edge cases, hidden defects, and user experience (UX) issues across critical workflows.
• Develop and maintain detailed test cases, test plans, and defect documentation.
• Collaborate with Product, R&D, Operations, and other stakeholders during the NPI lifecycle.
• Define quality standards, testing requirements, and release readiness criteria.
• Design, develop and execute comprehensive test strategies for new products and feature releases.
• Ensure compliance with organizational quality and operational standards.

Performance & Load Testing

• Design and execute load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests.
• Analyze performance metrics such as CPU utilization, memory consumption, latency, throughput, and response times.
• Identify system bottlenecks and partner with development teams to optimize application performance and architecture.
• Build and maintain robust automation frameworks (both UI and Backend) to speed up regression cycles.
• Execute and automate API testing for RESTful services.
• Perform testing on Android and iOS mobile applications, including mobile test automation where applicable.

Team Enablement

• Mentor and upskill QA team members in test automation, API testing, performance testing, and quality engineering best practices.
• Promote continuous improvement and quality-first practices across the organization.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience leading test strategy initiatives and quality engineering efforts in Agile environments.
• Manual & Exploratory Testing: Knowledge to uncover edge cases, hidden bugs, and UX friction points on complex workflows.
• Test Strategy & New Product Introduction (NPI): Capable of collaborating with stakeholders, R&D and Operations during the NPI phase to set quality gates and compliance standards. Skilled in designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test strategies for brand new features.
• Performance & Load Testing: Experienced with running load, stress, and endurance tests to find system bottlenecks, analyzing metrics (CPU, memory, latency), and working with developers to optimize architecture. Preferably with experience in JMeter, LoadRunner, Gatling, Performance Engineering, Stress Testing, Load Testing.
• Automation, API & App Testing: Skilled in building and maintaining robust automation frameworks (both UI and Backend) to speed up regression cycles. Should be knowledgeable enough to deep-dive into API testing and handle mobile application testing
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to directly interact with clients, lead discussions, and effectively represent the team in meetings, presentations, and reporting activities.
