Palecek Imports, Inc. is seeking a senior Product Engineer for the Philippines, based in Angeles City. You will convert design concepts into production-ready solutions, managing drawings, BOMs, materials, and testing across wood, metal, upholstery, and composites.
You will collaborate with factory R&D, sample rooms, engineering and production teams, travel regularly within the Philippines, and ensure compliance with industry standards. A strong background in furniture engineering is essential.
The Product Engineer – Philippines is responsible for converting design concepts, development samples, customer requirements, and product briefs into complete, accurate, and production-ready engineering solutions. The role executes detailed product engineering across drawings, construction, materials, hardware, bills of materials, prototypes, testing, quality requirements, and manufacturing issue resolution. This is a senior-capability individual-contributor position centered on direct technical execution. Based in Angeles City, Pampanga, this role reports to the Director of Product Engineering and works within PALECEK's regional Product Engineering Division.
Translate design briefs, sketches, renderings, development photos, physical samples, and customer requirements into accurate 2D and 3D engineering deliverables.
Prepare and maintain complete production packages, including dimensioned drawings, construction details, sections, material specifications, bills of materials, cut lists, hardware requirements, assembly information, finish references, and packaging-related technical requirements.
Develop practical construction solutions for furniture made from wood, rattan, metal, upholstery, resin, composite materials, natural fibers, and mixed-material combinations.
Work directly with factory research and development, sample-room, engineering, and production personnel during prototype and sample construction.
Inspect prototypes and samples against drawings, design intent, approved finishes, comfort requirements, workmanship standards, and expected product performance.
Apply relevant BIFMA, ASTM, CPSC, customer, and PALECEK performance requirements to product construction, durability, stability, safety, and testing decisions.
Provide hands-on engineering support during pilot runs, initial production, process changes, and complex manufacturing issue resolution.
Specify and evaluate materials, components, hardware, finishes, adhesives, foams, textiles, and other inputs appropriate to design, performance, production, and market requirements.
Travel regularly within Philippines to supplier factories for product development, prototype review, testing, production support, and technical issue resolution.
Maintain current engineering records in approved drawing repositories, PLM, ERP, project-management, and collaboration systems.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, furniture design, furniture technology, product engineering, or a related technical field; equivalent advanced furniture-engineering experience may be considered.
Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible, hands-on experience in furniture product engineering, furniture development, manufacturing engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated experience independently engineering complex residential, hospitality, or commercial furniture from concept through prototype, testing, and production.
Advanced knowledge of furniture construction across wood, rattan, metal, upholstery, resin, composite materials, natural fibers, and mixed-material products.
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and at least one relevant 3D modeling platform such as SolidWorks, Rhino, 3ds Max, or comparable software.
Proven ability to produce and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, bills of materials, tolerance requirements, and manufacturing documentation.
Strong factory-floor problem-solving skills and experience with prototype evaluation, root-cause analysis, corrective action, testing, and production issue resolution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Filipino.
Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Philippines and occasionally internationally.
