IWT Moldrup Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd seeks a Senior Mechanical & Structural Designer to develop detailed designs for industrial machinery and process plants.
You will create 3D models, detailed drawings, and interfaces for piping, tanks and steel structures, with responsibility from concept to commissioning. The role is remote with international travel to factories and customer sites for design reviews, testing and support.
Are you an experienced mechanical or structural designer with a strong background in industrial process plants, machinery and material-handling systems?
Do you enjoy taking responsibility for detailed design—from 3D modelling and engineering drawings to fabrication, assembly and installation of complete industrial equipment?
We are looking for a hands‑on Senior Mechanical / Structural Designer to develop detailed mechanical and structural designs for industrial process plants, machinery and material‑handling systems delivered to customers worldwide.
This is a remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere. However, international travel to factories and customer sites for design reviews, inspections, testing, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and technical support is an essential and expected part of the role.
You will be responsible for:
Although your normal workplace can be anywhere in the world, this is not a purely desk‑based design position. You must be willing and able to travel internationally and work directly with machinery, structural steel, process equipment and industrial installations at factories and customer sites.
Applicants must have documented, hands‑on professional experience in the following areas:
Candidates must be able to demonstrate previous designs and industrial projects involving moving mechanical equipment, structural steel and process plant equipment.
General CAD/design experience without relevant industrial machinery and process plant experience is not sufficient.
We are specifically looking for a designer who understands how mechanical equipment, structural steel and process-plant components fit together as a complete industrial installation.
Experience must go beyond producing individual CAD drawings. Candidates should be able to demonstrate practical experience developing designs that have been manufactured, assembled and installed in real industrial environments.
Documented project experience is essential
Candidates must be able to demonstrate actual industrial projects in which they were personally responsible for relevant mechanical and/or structural design work.
Your application should include details of at least 3 directly relevant industrial projects.
Academic qualifications, engineering degrees and relevant training courses are valuable, but they are not sufficient on their own.
We are looking for someone who has personally taken real industrial machinery and process-plant designs from initial engineering requirements and detailed 3D modelling through manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, installation and operational commissioning.
Candidates must understand not only how to design individual components, but also how complete mechanical and structural systems function together in real industrial environments.
To be considered, please submit:
We may request project references, technical drawings, 3D models, design calculations, fabrication documentation or other evidence demonstrating the stated professional experience.
Applications that do not demonstrate the mandatory relevant industrial design experience will not be considered.
You are a practical, structured and highly experienced mechanical and structural designer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex industrial machinery and process-plant design projects.
You understand that successful industrial design is not limited to producing technically correct 3D models and engineering drawings. You understand how mechanical equipment, moving machinery, structural steel, piping, tanks and supporting structures interact as part of a complete industrial installation.
You have a strong understanding of practical manufacturing and fabrication requirements, including material selection, tolerances, assembly methods, installation constraints, maintenance access and the practical challenges of constructing and operating industrial equipment.
You are capable of identifying potential design conflicts and installation problems before they reach the manufacturing or construction stage.
You are comfortable working independently in a remote environment while coordinating closely with mechanical engineers, structural engineers, electrical and automation engineers, manufacturers, fabricators, suppliers and customers.
You approach technical challenges systematically and are able to develop practical, reliable and cost-effective solutions.
You take ownership of your designs and understand the importance of accuracy, manufacturability, structural integrity, clear documentation and reliable operation.
You are willing to follow your designs beyond the computer screen and participate directly in manufacturing reviews, factory inspections, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning when required.
Applicants must be Singapore Permanent Residents.
The role also requires strong professional communication skills in English and a willingness and ability to travel internationally when projects require on-site presence.
If you want the flexibility of remote work while also seeing your mechanical and structural designs manufactured, assembled and operating in industrial plants around the world, we would like to hear from you.
