Job summary

Chubb Infrastructure is seeking a Linux Operations Engineer to manage and troubleshoot Linux systems, with global support and collaboration across teams. Hybrid setup with potential travel and on-call duties.

You will automate, document, and mentor while ensuring high availability of critical services. Ideal candidates bring deep RHEL/SUSE expertise, experience with Ansible, virtualization (VMware, Azure) and container platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of directly related Linux experience (RHEL/SUSE).
• Extensive virtualized Linux server support in enterprise environments.
• Advanced knowledge of RHEL 8.x/9.x and SLES 15.
• Experience with configuration management (Ansible).
• Knowledge of Satellite Server management.
• Networking fundamentals incl. routing, switching, firewalls, VLANs.
• Windows Server experience is a plus.
• VMware vSphere and container tech (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work across multiple projects with ITSM processes.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose incidents on Linux stacks (RHEL/SLES).
• Follow-the-sun support for global Linux environment.
• Collaborate with network, security, development, and support teams.
• Mentor junior staff and act as SME for infra issues.
• Automate runbooks and monitoring/verification processes.
• Maintain high availability; daily system monitoring and logs review.
• Create and maintain Linux system documentation.
• Drive improvements via automation and better processes.
• Provide on-call and after-hours support as needed.
• Identify gaps in monitoring and alerting and address them.
• Participate in change, incident, and problem management.
• Assist in disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Work across multiple projects and deliver best practices.
